I discovered 10cc in 1975, when I was 9. I was already into Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and my all time favorite, David Bowie. Anyway, my older sister & bro-in-law had a closet shelf full of carefully stacked 8-track tapes, and they had recently purchased 10cc's "The Original Soundtrack" I looked at the cover and listened to a couple of songs (Blackmail and Life is a Minestrone, I believe). Loved them both, so I bought the album new on my very next trip to Dee's Electronics' record section. Now, on my own at home, I fully immersed myself into the album. And what an album it is! : "ONE NIGHT IN PARIS" is everything that Bohemian Rhapsody wanted to be (both great songs), a brazen epic that truly takes you on an adventurous audio-visual journey. "I'M NOT IN LOVE" was simply the most innovative, fantastic single of the decade. "BLACKMAIL" is as fun and ultra-catchy as a song can be, esp with its doubled-voice talk back section with the gizmo. "THE SECOND SITTING FOR THE LAST SUPPER " just kicks ass from start to finish!.... I could go on. The album is bloody fantastic and comes within my favorite era of this band (1974-1978) After this classic, I eventually got the debut and the EXCELLENT"Sheet Music" album from '74. Then the great "How Dare You!" release in 1976, and the brilliant "Deceptive Bends" in 1977. Finally, "Bloody Tourists," '78. What a fantastic handful of LPs!! After 1979 however, things began to wane a bit for 10cc. The early 80s were okay, but then after that..... 🕳️ Either way, for what they gave to us in the glorious 1970s, I would still plunk down the cash for this nice set (if I didn't already have all of the essential albums) Nice presentation, btw. *Oh, and that "tongue in cheek" comment was in regard to the 1974 single "Worst Band In The World" (another brilliant little tune) Marc ⚡

Oh, it's my pleasure, Jim! And thank you back. Nice to see someone talking intelligently about one of the great bands of the 1970s. Marc ⚡

Nice review Jim. Just to confirm that your recollection that Chas n Dave supported 10cc is quite correct, although they were the support act on their 1976 tour rather than 1975 (fyi the gig you went to at Birmingham Odeon must have been either 21 & 22 February 1976 as they played two nights there).

Lol Creme went onto work with Trevor Horn and the Art Of Noise in the late 90s. Steven Wilson of solo fame and Porcupine Tree fame loves the Consequences album. I love the first two 10cc albums. They are fantastic.

Nice set Jim and well worth having if you don't already have many of the individual LP's. I was a big 10cc fan back in the day and bought all of their LP's until the mid 80's so I may be missing a couple of later releases. It's too bad that Godley/Creme split though as I thought they were better as a whole.
