I prefer the 135gr controlled expansion HP because it delivers all of its energy more quickly than the 125gr that continues on, carrying momentum and energy along with it. In my case of wanting a gun with the best one-shot stopping capability, I want that projectile to be able to dump all of its energy as quickly as possible while having the necessary penetration possible to do the needed damage where it hurts. I feel the 135gr better meets that requirement over the 125gr. But both are phenomenal rounds and I am so happy that DoubleTap is basically the only manufacturer that DOESN'T skimp on 10mm velocity.

yea just dont forget, the geldblock doesnt have bones n stuff.. so hard choice indeed because both are awesome. a 125grainer with a softer bullet would be nice because if you get one with that speed and impact to explode basically in the first 10in parameter we would get all the 722ft lbs right there. instand fightstopper ftw.

WOW!!! The 125 gr threw the block into the jug hard enough to permenently dent it! That 1st round really brought the pain to the gel block. They both did very well but IMO the 125 gr was the most impressive

I love copper hollow points, that 125 is a mean load. Double Tap also makes a solid copper hollow point in 155 gr. Would love to see that if you ever run across it. I think that copper round would be a great self defense option. It dumped over 700 foot pounds of energy. I think that would stop a bad guy pretty quick. Thanks for giving us a bunch of different rounds to look at. You are by FAR the best at what you do!!!!! Wishing you and your family a wonderful day.

I ordered a couple of boxes of ammo from GunBroker, 10mm, solid copper HP bullet, made by Cutting Edge, I think it’s called a “Talon”, it’s a 150gr personal defense round, not had time to sling any of em yet, but they are beautiful

I too consider myself an avid .357 Sig guy. I do own a couple of 10mm pistols (and even reload for it), but 10mm doesn't sing to me like .357 Sig does. Both are still better than .40 S&W, though

This test really shows the TRUE performance of what a 10mm cartridge can do! The other gel tests that I've seen look more like 9mm HP cavitation. Keep up the great work AZ.

@@AzAirgunner. If you voiced a preference I missed it. Did you have an opinion of one over the other in any area. When I carried a G29 for woodlands management in the Great Lakes area a few years ago I carried Double tap 165 Gold Dots for a while. Excellent. I switched to the Fenix 180 Gold for the rest of the time. If I carried a 10 for self defense I think one of these would be a great option.

@@guardianminifarm8005 Wish I could find both of those that u mentioned. I did not but I'm not sure.. They both have there place. I'd prolly go the 135gr for a "sd" round and the 125gr for more of a "hunting" style round because of the extra penetration. Every time I have tested it, it usually sheds all of its petals. Unless out to about 40yards where it stays together a lil better. I like them both though lol definitely a tough decision. I'm planning on getting a G29 soon😁 should be a fun one for testing.

@@AzAirgunner. I am certain you will not be disappointed. You will know it is a 10mm when you run Double Tap, Underwood, Buffalo Bore and Fenix. My choice of range ammo for true 10mm loads was Sig Elite Performance fmj. When I chronographed them I got a bit over 1200fps which pleased & surprised me.

From this, I'd choose the 125 gr for deer hunting as it penetrates for an exit wound and a blood trail (I suspect the solid copper bullet has lots to do with that penetration!). Perhaps the 135 or heavier is better for EDC or home defense as it may not penetrate into innocent targets, plus probably drops the target quicker. I'd love to see how flat various 10mm rounds shoot out to 50 yards… using a gun vice or at least a rest since we don't care to learn how good a shot one is; We want to see how the ammo performs without wondering if the shooter used holdover or flinched. Good video.

Great review man, but I’m confused, the first shot with 125 gr was on the left side of the block, at 3:52 the shot is now on the right side. Was this a different gel block? Please correct me if I’m wrong, I can be a bit slow at times, lol

Thank you!! Nah bro ur good.. so what I do is flip the block over after the first shot so we can get a nice clean clear picture of the next shot with the same lighting. So when I show them at the end they are on the the opposite side. Hope that helped. I appreciate u checkin it out!!

nothing controlled about that expansion lol. Seems to me for 40 cal projectiles, that 150ish is about as low as one should go and when pushing 10mm power, 155 - 165 for best effects against humans

Depends what kind of effects you're looking for...any 10mm true 10mm the results are the same...your not getting up....period!
