In this one it’s my pleasure to formally launch the next 10MinuteWorkshop product, the Router MultiJig. A little like a Swiss army knife of router jigs, it covers seven broad use cases; there are three types of handle cut-outs, four sizes of bar handle fixings positions, there’s a run of five holes on 32mm centres eg for shelf-pins, concealed hinge and hinge plate marking positions, there are offset dog hole extension holes for a traditional 96mm grid MFT top, there are inline dog hole extension for alternative 128mm grid MFT tops, and there are corner radii that’ll give you four different corner sizes.
There’s a feature-by-feature walkthrough video here - • Rouiter MultiJig featu...

I just pulled mine from my post office box in the USA. On a scale of expectation to reality this is a 10/10. I’m quite pleased. I’ve ordered a few items from KZbin vendors and had some bitter experiences. A big time channel sold a router table that I had to pretty much remanufacture. Mine must have been the last before they changed the bit and tap. 3/10 Very pleased with Peter’s product. Time from order to receipt was exceptional. Packaging was excellent. I do wish that there were some written instructions, but that seems to be an exception as opposed to normal. And this video is helpful. Highly recommend

Hi Robert, and thanks for the great write up - and for being an early adopter through the newsletter or Plus membership. Like many people I try to reduce the amount of paper I use and ship around the world, so the written instructions / reference guide are a download - there’s a link in the description, and I’ll add it in below for convenience. There’s also a feature-by-feature walkthrough video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGGUqIybbtKIp5I And there’ll be individual short videos to come that will go into each specific use case eg handle cut-outs, hinge positions etc… Hope that helps, and thanks again! Peter The reference guide is available as a free download here - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/l7c5sjtpjfcthnx96bchq/MultiJig-Reference-Guide-P1.pdf?rlkey=0p80cxbx7czuyvqdjc9h20qp6&st=s62r34d1&dl=0

Enjoy watching some if your videos. I watched a vid about router cutters and you asked if "spiral" ones were elf & safety compliant in hand held routers. To the best of my knowledge the governing factors are the strength of your wrists, power of the router and your skill / experience level. They do make a single disposable blade blade router for kitchen worktops and they can be worse than a big"spiral" to use

This is a very clever bit of kit! I'm notoriously a bit of a tight arse but this jig looks like really good value for money wheb you consider the jigs it replaces, the cost of those individually and the time it saves making each from scratch. I generally enjoy making jigs and the thought process behind it but it often takes much longer than the cuts you had planned for that job. I really like the outer radius feature, so simple but adds a nice bit of additional functionality. Well done Peter!

The Parf Guide Mark II (that's what Axminster calls it) has holes spaced at 32 mm and 48 mm. There are only three sets of these on each ruler, so the best way to use them would probably to lay out a whole grid of 3 mm holes on the 96 mm spacing, and then use this grid to put in the intermediate holes. It would not be as convenient as your jig for the one offset hole, as it to make that hole would require a whole row of holes to position the 20 mm drill plate. That is a whole lot of holes to make one hole.
@10MinuteWorkshop
@10MinuteWorkshop Ай бұрын
Thanks! I have the PG2 but only used it it make a standard MFT top alongside a couple of others. Appreciate the clarification, and yes, that would be a lot of holes! 😂
@nickdawson9270
@nickdawson9270 Ай бұрын
Those holes give the requisite 1/3 and 1/2 offsets. Then use revision dogs to locate the required co-ordinates. Requires only three 3mm holes to make one 20mm offset hole. That said multi-jig is a brilliant solution to enhance an MFT.

Peter im looking for a new drill dont know if brushless is the way to go something mid budget can you recommend a brand/model Thank you Mark it was a great show
@10MinuteWorkshop
@10MinuteWorkshop Ай бұрын
Thanks Mark; I've only really used Festool drills and drivers for the last few years so I'm not best placed to advise on specific brands or models, though I've used all kinds form a no-brand Screwfix special to DeWalt, Panasonic and blue Bosch before settling on Festool; if it's to be your main drill then brushless is definitely worth having, but if it's only for occasional use then I wouldn't be put off by a brushed motor, especially when price is factored in. Assuming it's cordless then if you have any other cordless tools, I'd look at whatever's offered by that manufacturer first, just to keep the battery platform consistent. And if you're not on a specific platform, then factor that in to your decision-making as well as it might be worth getting a 'lesser' drill/driver from a manufacturer who has a wider range of cordless tools available - that's how I ended up with Bosch 10.8v instead of Makita. Hope that helps! P

@10MinuteWorkshop
@10MinuteWorkshop Ай бұрын
I use the Festool bit, but I had a precision engineer pal grind it down slightly to get a really snug fit. I've had decent results with the trend; all routers generally make a slightly oversized hole / looser fit with a 20mm bit because of the run-out in the collet, though it does vary router to router. Try running it at the slowest practical speed and you should get a better fit. 👍

It's very good, many times better than a kitchen extractor! Looks like a bargain for the money Peter and having seen some of your products at last year’s Maker Central, I know this will be of the highest quality. Yes the Parf guide system (which I have used and rate very highly) does do offset holes but I found it a bit of a faff. This jig seems more simple to use. Would your jig have the offset required to make the offset holes for the Benchdogs rail hinge?
@10MinuteWorkshop
