Can you mount the Benchdog hinge to the back of a workbench with screws or bolts, instead of using dog holes? Thanks!

I bought one of these in Oct 24, and returned it the next day, there was so much slop in the chuck spindle my 35mm hole was 36.2. I you watch this video from about 11:08 the holesaw is noticeably oscillating. Upon returning my unit he store salesperson and I checked the display unit and it was the same, you could feel the movement in the spindle by hand. Bought a 'Tooline DP180B' and it's perfect

Agree about dual power option a big mistake… Surely with tech now can make a mains to 36v adapter in a 18v battery case to plug into table saw battery slot 🧐🧐🧐 This could be used for the other cordless range track & chop saws. As a backup power source 🤷🏼♂️🙏🏼🤷🏼♂️

Hi Peter C I am a little confused with th plastic splinter guards on the video. The first track saw run you cut some of the plastic splinter off?, how do I accurately measure after that?, do I measure to the end of the plastic or to the end of the track, which is metal?. Appreciate your answer on this as I am new to this. Thank you
@10MinuteWorkshop3 күн бұрын
If you’re new to tracksaws may I suggest the Tracksaw Workshop playlist - bit.ly/TracksawWorkshop - takes you through the whole process of setting up a saw from scratch. Also tip number one in this video - 5 Quick Tips to keep your Tracksaw - and you - happy [video 553] - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5epnnx-gqaim6s - is all about trimming or replacing the splinterguard. Short version; the rail is supplied with a wider than necessary splinterguard; with the saw snugged onto the rail the first cut trims the splinterguard back, which then represents the cut line. HTH! Peter

A table saw is possibly the only tool I simply can't buy due to reasons of space and location, i.e. there's nowhere in my home it can live 😁. I did find certain moments during my extensive home renovation where I recall thinking, "Could've done with a table saw for this." But I recently invested in my first ever track saw, and I'm glad I avoided the tempting draw of the table saw. I won't say table saws are irrelevant in the workshop environment, but for solely my purposes I can pretty much do everything I require with my lovely new corded plunger.

Hi Peter I have a problem with my Makita SP6000. When making a bevel cut it bites into the splinter guard rendering the gaurd inaccurate for normal cuts. From a quick google this appears to be a common issue. Any ideas on how to resolve this and does it happen with other tracksawa?

im looking at the MFT/3 and theres the option to buy just the table or buy the table with the hinge, guide rail, fence rail, and mitre gauge etc for $100 more (USD). do you think I should get the base table and then go 3rd party for the accessories?
@10MinuteWorkshop5 күн бұрын
Tough call tbh; if you're at all interested in a shorter rail, then I'd say go for it as the difference in price between the full package and a short rail is probably negligible, but if it isn't of interest then put the $100 towards third party solutions; just be aware that $100 won't go far! 👍

Is fixing the socket like that legal? I heard that it was against regulations to have any flammable material inside the back box. Could having the wood sandwiched like that cause any issues? I'm just about to do this in my house so thought id ask before i commit.

If you have any concerns then do it another way, but I was advised by building control that this was perfectly acceptable.

How does glue perform over time, it does degrade, right? For me it's the biggest reason to use mechanical fasteners. But it might just be in my head.
@10MinuteWorkshop5 күн бұрын
Depends on the glue and the conditions, and how the piece has been treated, but were talking decades - and as I say in the video Im not suggesting that you deliver client work that's just glued together, more that we tend to over-engineer everything 'just in case' 👍

Hi Peter, your video is a life saver! I have a question hoping you can help me with it as I am not very handy. I drilled my hole 23.5mm from the edge (1mm more outward), should I be moving my mounting bracket 1mm closer instead of 37mm make it 36mm? Will the 1mm make a difference if i just leave it at 37mm? I am not sure how much the adjustment screws can tune.
@10MinuteWorkshop5 күн бұрын
Thanks! No leave it at 37mm; the hole in the door will relate to how much the door overhangs the carcass left - right. The hinge plate position relates to where the door sits in-out. There's +/- 2-3mm of wiggle room on the hinges, you should be fine. 👍

Thanks for the video, though the hardest part is lining up the hinges you screwed inside the cabinet which seems to just appear done. How did you line then up? Thanks
@10MinuteWorkshop5 күн бұрын
You use the same little plastic jig that you use for the hinge in the door. I refer to it in the inset door, and how you can't use that jig but you can use another. 👍

Full overlay hinges appear to be designed for 18mm (3/4") wood. I have 5/8" thick plywood for my project and I'm wondering if I can just change the location of the cup to be 1/8" closer to the edge to compensate for the lesser thickness or if this is going to cause problems.
@10MinuteWorkshop7 күн бұрын
I’ve never done it though it should be possible - you’d need to be careful about getting too close to the edge of the door though! You can get mounting plates with additional offset eg +3mm - might be a better solution?

Could a Circular saw, e.g. the Skil Saw be used on the Evolution track to achieve a straighter cut than would be achieved with the T shaped guide that many Circular saws come with?
@10MinuteWorkshop7 күн бұрын
No, only saws with an appropriate base plate can run on these tracks, though you could use the evolution tracks as an expensive straightedge. A straight edge guide clamped to the workpiece will give a better result than using the t-shaped edge guide though! 👍
