Hey AoW. I’m just getting into Tau and was wondering how strict major tournaments are with WYSIWYG for crisis suits. It is going to be a NIGHTMARE getting all those CIBs, and if the loadouts ever change it would be rough.

Skari always being upbeat and positive with Drukhari with makes me happy. Through the ups and the downs. Skari plays Drukhari when they're good. Skari plays them when they're bad. Skari plays them when they're mid. Skari plays Drukhari and will always look for a way. I say this because my feelings for Drukhari are kinda negative right now but watching Skari perks me up about the Dark Kin.

My two favourite streamers with my 2 favourite armies, thanks for such a treat. I saw the points of tetras and thought they'd be worth a look when the datasheet came out. As soon as I saw the rules the 2 units of 2 I had were an instant add-in to my list. Giving full rerolls, the toughness and wounds. Also adding more vehicles didn't hurt giving away points for Bring It Down as we already give out max points with all the battlesuits that are vehicles.

This was a great example of why I think overwatch is too oppressive against a lot of armies. Multiple turns where Skari couldn’t move units he wanted to because they would just die. It’s happened to me a lot in 10th edition already and it doesn’t feel great at all

These armies are both strong .... sadly that did not age too well. But great seeing two armies that are in a similar power bracket and it shows there is potential to get things balanced.

Because this includes more of the stronger units and none of the really bad ones (Criptide especially) despite altogether too many Crisis Suits (which are still alright against squishier armies like Dark Eldar) For a competitive list you should max out Stealth Suits, Ghostkeels (1 with Fusion Collider to follow Shadowsun around) and at least 3 solo Piranhas, and a breacher team with devilfish. That's 8 Seeker Missiles to help bridge our anti-tank gaping hole. Some people will try to use Stormsurges and Broadsides for this, and that'll be a mistake as they're way too inflexible. Vespid are also still good, was our best unit at end of 9th but will continue to be underrated. But you should fear them when they arrive.

@@Vinterloft even if you do all of this there's still a very solid chance you'll just lose against most armies no matter how hard you try. We're just at a massive disadvantage and it's hard to dig yourself out of that hole.

@@TwitchyMofo They really did Tau dirty, Strike teams are absolute useless now, same with Broadsides and Riptides. For a faction who has literally only one phase, they really nerfed Tau shooting too much. Best thing I can suggest is Coldstar Commander leading a big Crisis team, gives them 18'' of move and assault tags. For 15 points give him Exemplar of Kauyon to get turn 2 Kauyon and then use Strike and Fade stratagem to Move-Shoot-Move. With a Stealthsuit team Guiding you can give them reroll Wound rolls of 1. That and stack Breacher teams led by Fireblade's inside Devilfish.

Tau winning? Impressive, its almost as if they still have tricks up their sleeves and not using the riptide is a better option! I feel like a couple of skyrays are just as scary as ghostkeels, of course they van be shot at... problem is that they can stay in the back and bombard you with seeker missiles, i love them!

I built an army that focuses on our strengths, and cut the extra pain token by excluding the Succubus. She just isn't worth it, as even with the Alliance of Agony strat she is only empowered during the shooting phase. It also runs the Tantalus, just cuz. Here is where I think our list should be looking like. So while Tau aren't top tier. I think they're going to be a hard match up for Druhkari. I think they have a good tool kit. (I play both, btw. 😅)

The cyclic ion blaster is brutal against DE, because they have many opportunities where they don't need to overcharge, and when they do overcharge they are really nasty. The Coldstar crisis bomb can also match the DE for speed with an 18" move a turn and then a 12" Strike & Fade, even tying it up in combat doesn't stop the shooting.

Especially CIbs and skyrays. CIBs are still a nice anti-infantry weapon and skyrays are now one of the best tau units and are even better against "Fly" units

This is definitely more encouraging for the tau compared to all the other battle reports so far. I've got 1 pair of tetras and 2 units of 3 stealth suits, and i don't really feel like getting more, how crucial do you think their observer buffs will be? What's a good alternative to their relative points?

There's not really a good alternative, rerolls to hit (particularly with Sustained Hits 2) is just so good. Stealths suits giving rerolls 1's to wound is the next best particularly if you have a few units which hit on a 2+ (Broadsides and Hammerheads). Skyrays firing at FLY targets already get rerolls to hit and Shadowsun can give multiple nearby units reroll 1's to hit. You don't absolutely need tetras (I'm in a similar boat that I have 4 and don't fancy buying 2 more) but they make it easier. Just the fact they are small fast and have 14! wounds for 80 points opens up so many tactical options then the observer buff just puts them into S tier.

Can't you overwatch with any unit in the Movement or charge phase? There's nothing on the Stratagem card that says the unit being charged has to fire the overwatch. Just "one unit within 24" that would be eligible in your shooting phase." Or am I missing something?

They have supply lines in their mission, so on a 4+ if they hold their home objective, they gain a cp. Thats how he got 2 top of turn 1
