Awesome tips! Just started playing with lockdown and electric chair. Keep getting flattened out while in lockdown. This vid showing me what I'm doing wrong

Its interesting man, I almost always do the whipdown first rather than the whip up. I got guilotined, JNT, and spawled on so many times I just stopped doing the whip up. I developed a pretty decent series from Whip Down and quite a fair bit that I have never seen before. I'll upload in the next couple weeks. Keen to hear what you think. Thanks for the info

Great videos Pat! My 10P gym is unfortunately still closed so your vids have been a huge help in keeping the technical pathways alive.

Hello Patrick, congratz for the awesome video. What do you think of putting both electric underhooks directly from the Z when kicking the knee shield out? For me worked well with higher knee shield position with my arm pummeling right under the knee, same time im waiting for the opening on their far leg to go for the leg underhook.

Hey Rafael, thanks! That’s a great question, shooting the underhook behind the knee shield is a fantastic approach mechanically, no critique there. All I’d addd is that an experienced top player will predict and negate that with shifts in angle and weight distribution. Think of that like a checkers move. The chess move would be to lead with 2-1 grips, (think Gordon-buchecha sticky arm drag gripping sequences adcc 2019) and using that as the set up to shoot for underhooks, body locks and should crunches. Give that a watch and you’ll see what I mean-can be applied for electric double unders too.

I see it. Thanks for the advice. The whip up then whip down ( with the elbows inside), seems one of the most reliable ways to either stablish the electric underhooks and open the EC way, like you have showned on the vid. But why not stoner control instead of the regular EC sweep? Am i wrong thinking that stoner control is one of the most dominant positions in the game? Btw do you still have the mini free course as appears on the description? Links seem not working for me so idk. Thanks again Patrick.

knee up loading the body technique is crazy..!!!!

I love EC but I dunno, I can't seem to get it to work on heavy guys...must be a key element that I'm missing

It’s definitely in the class of techniques that are tougher against larger opponent because of the chest to chest lack of space. I’d recommend going for the dog fight option more if you know the basic entries and transitions for that

I’ve been trying the lockdown for months with various success. When I get flattened out, I get stuck; neither improving or conceding the position. Looks like I need to work on my whip up. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Sorry for the delay in response...Think about elevating your opponent north over your head and owning their armpits as much as possible. You can see a recent post on my instagram about this if that helps.

@@patrickdonabedian3323 Thank for this! On re-watching this video too I can see at 7:35 you talk about winning both the lockdown, but also inside control with your arms. That and elevating is what I was missing; I kept ending up looking like 7:25. Back to the mats to drill I go! :)
