I hope that everyone here is doing alright in these uncertain times. If you are feeling troubled please consider professional help, or even talking to a trusted friend about what you are going through. I wish you all the best, and remember that people care about you, even if it may not feel like it sometimes.

Can't wait to see you guys on Shiprocked!!! You're one of my favorite bands and have really helped me get past my divorce. There were some very dark times over the last year, but now I'm in the best place I have ever been! I missed your performance at Northern Invasion in May. Too early of a time slot for me after a night of fun at the camp ground, but I'll definitely see you guys rock in just over a month!!!

@Heather Dolan, I have been there as well and I know it can be tough. I have had to start over a few times, one of those times I only had my clothes on my back and my vehicle and God brought me through it. Not trying to push my beliefs on anyone, just saying what helped me through it, lots of prayers and God putting things in place. Now I am blessed to be married to a wonderful man, a home and my loved ones close by :). We fought hard to survive and made it and I hope and pray that things have fallen in place for you :)

Not sure if the band looks at these comments, especially after all this time, but this song has to be my favorite for so many reasons. Not sure as to what purpose or intent it was written for, but for me, it was a song of healing during my separation and eventual divorce. I can't tell you how often this song was sung at the top of my lungs in my car with the tears a'flowin' down my cheeks. My comment was not to sadden but to inspire that life goes on and this song gives strength to those who need to find their way. No longer out of place my friends :)

Actually, this video has everything to do with the song. Just listen to the first line "its taken a lifetime to lose my way, a lifetime of yesterdays..all the wasted time on my hands.." They are talking about the image others (record labels, etc) have tried to mold them into. In the video, they play all these stupid "characters" who are not the people they are. It's wasted time for them, they are fine with the band they are, the people they are. If it's going to end up "burning" them, so be it. Jesse states "I fail to follow"- he's a leader and does what he wants. They had fun in the video too just because they've made alot of serious videos but their cool as hell goofy guys. Love it.

Blarghuaght. Guys, the video is the direct representation of the bands experience with record labels trying to change who they are and the music they play. It's not lacking at all, it actually explains to a T how the record labels push the bands around to monetize the hell out of them

Jessies my cousin we did the atuam affect in his basment hes my 2nd cousin in the family.
@matpalazzo19652 жыл бұрын
This song actually has the opposite affect with me. I immediately identified with it when it first came out. Defeat was the storybook of my life through the filter of my selfishness. I’m 2 1/2 years sober now and it has EVERYTHING to do with Jesus Christ. Not religion, but a relationship, with Jesus. Reading the comment that you still struggle everyday with your past broke my heart brother. Scriptures like Romans 8:1-2, Philippians 3:13-14, 2 Corinthians 5:17 & Philippians 1:6 has set me free and given me hope. I’m not ashamed of my past anymore. I embrace it but I don’t live in it. People can relate to your downfalls but what’s even greater is how you overcome them. That’s what makes your past relevant! I don’t know what you believe or what kind of experiences you’ve had with the church (the people of God). Don’t let the hypocritical Pharisees that have bashed you change your perspective of God. God actually hates religion (I know that sounds weird). Jesus just wants your heart, not a set a rules to follow (which is what the hypocrites in this world full of religion tend to focus on). I can embrace the lyric “I’m fine in the fire” because I know that Jesus is right there with me. I could never fix me. I tried, it didn’t work. I can’t fix anyone else. I tried to save my mother, she died in her addiction. The Holy Spirit spoke to me in a supreme moment of healing saying, “you could never save her, I’m her savior”. Only Jesus can fix broken things. I wanna leave you with a song that gives a different perspective to this. I also want to leave you with a scripture that will not only bring hope but will change your life if you choose. The first part is a profound promise. The last part is an instruction. An instruction that will make everyday you struggle with your past a lot easier to deal with: Jeremiah 29:11-14 m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ6xlGOCbKaWa8U

@@matpalazzo1965 i second your interpretation, many people do n make things that not even they know the interpretation of, could maybe be taken different ways but it seems pretty plain that being at peace even with the daily struggle of life has quite a bit to do with everything you've said. Listening to the lyrics and interpreting them in my own way, I feel like this song describes the place in my life I was in my mid-20s…emotionally lost, but content to stay that way.

I just re-found this band! I started listening to it a few years back in middle school, but my parents thought it was a bad influence on me because its rock/metal music. I can't believe i forgot about them! I was sitting in bed when a song popped in my head but i didnt know the band name so i looked up the lyrics and found 10 years, again:) Their music isn't meaningless like the majority of bands (they always have a lesson or something that you can learn from in their songs), and plus i'm sick of all the boy band-craze going around:P Jesse and the band never dissapoint me with their music! It's amaing! Fix me, Shoot it Out, and Backlash are my favorite music videos/songs by them, but i love all of they're songs. I want to go to one of their concerts, but they never come to SC. I'm waitng for them to come to Georgia, maybe, but i won't be able to go until 2015:(

This is the most underrated but amazing band that ever existed, without a doubt. Every song has so much depth and meaning. Thank god for artists like this.

It's taken a lifetime to lose my way A lifetime of yesterdays All the wasted time on my hands Turns to sand And fades in the wind Crossing lines Small crimes Taking back what is mine I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me So lost for so long To find my way I failed to follow I'm out of place Crossing lines Small crimes Taking back what is mine I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me (Hesitation Separation Revelation Isolation Hesitation Separation Revelation) I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should be Don't try and fix me I'm fine in the fire I feed on the friction I'm right where I should Don't try and fix me

How the hell did I not find you guys before now!? In a state of shock - oening lyric line, and I was in tears. I cannot fault you guys - Lyrics are phenomenal. Vocally, leads are perfect, harmonies are huge. Musically, you guys are tight! Xx

Don't try to fix me. I'm not broken. It's taken a lifetime to lose my way, so stop telling me where to go. My lifetime of yesterdays won't lead me to your tomorrow. Crossing the lines, performing small crimes, are my way of taking back what is mine. I'm fine in the fire. I feed on the friction. I'm right where I should be. I've been so lost and so out of place for so long that I've failed to follow. So don't try to fix me. I ain't broken.

Holy frigging shit. A song can't have a different meaning to those who hear it? I wasn't quoting the lyrics. I was relating one cool fucking song to the things that happened to me.

The video goes PERFECTLY with the song. It emphasizes that he is fine with his hectic, crazy life and telling people that they shouldn't try to change it. He's found his place in life and ENJOYING it. Good song.

I am absolutely in love with this song, but very, very disappointed in the video. I love music for how passionate it is, and this video is so empty.
@mattstahl106810 жыл бұрын
I so agree..., this song has so much "power", and the video is just useless. The right video with this song would cut all the way to your soul.
@DarkLux4210 жыл бұрын
***** I don't wish to sound so aggressive but..are you stupid? I just said that the song itself is very powerful, I love it. Then you have this video that just doesn't match the song.
@SomethingLikeLu10 жыл бұрын
Silla Harding it matches the video perfectly. they were fighting record labels for how they always want to change things that doesn't need fixing. The video is very literal to what the band had experienced in the RL world
@ShurkMan41310 жыл бұрын
When I first heard the song, I thought of illness. Illnesses like schizophrenia, MPD, Bi-polar disorder, and so on. Thats what it leans towards in my opinion. Much more stronger if you interpret it as someone who is sick and they love it to their core. This video makes it seem like he's just a tough guy, trouble maker, who really doesn't do much or feel much. The video does not do it justice at all. Sure the lyrics match it, but it could match so much better. The music video for Never Too Late by Three Days Grace would match this much better.
@TheMisterJinglez10 жыл бұрын
They did make an alternate video to this song with submitted recordings of fans dancing and singing to the song in their own way. I prefer to watch that one.

This is such an awesome band... I don't know how I don't know much about them... they play them on a regional WI/IL borderline station 95.1 WILL Rock thankfully.... I can just barely tune in the station where I live just outside of Milwaukee.
