Can you please Slow down your motions That causing commotion I can't keep up with The way you're going anymore... Lay down dead roses You've been holding And rest your shoulders You can't carry the cross You've chosen anymore... You're running through the motions of the emotionless You're running through the motions of the emotionless Stop trying to show How to save our souls It takes dying to know How to live as ghosts Replay the process Calling it progress To calm down your consciousness But you can not wear this crown You've chosen anymore... You're running through the motions of the emotionless You're running through the motions of the emotionless Stop trying to show How to save our souls It takes dying to know How to live as ghosts You're running through the motions of the emotionless You're running through the motions of the emotionless The wind blows Against the stove And leaves the body cold The wind blows Against the stove And leaves the body cold Stop trying to show How to save our souls It takes dying to know How to live as ghosts You're running through the motions of the emotionless You're running through the motions of the emotionless You're trying to show (You're running through the motions of the emotionless) How to save our souls It takes dying to know (You're running through the motions of the emotionless) Hot to live as ghosts

nick supreme I remember looking through the comments of walk on water by 30stm and people just kept saying “oh, if you ever appreciated the band, you would support the change! Bands can’t do the same thing forever!” I’m thinking, yeah, bands should evolve, but that doesn’t mean they need to manufacture generic pop songs like every other mainstream band.

I was in to 10 Years back during my time in middle and high school, but discovered the likes of Anathema, Antimatter, Ghost Brigade, and Katatonia shortly thereafter and sort of grew out of the "post-grunge" style of alternative metal in favour of the more gothic style. It would be a stretch to say that 10 Years ever touched upon the latter, but they always did have a sombreness to them relative to their contemporaries that set them aside and just a tiny bit further in that direction. From Birth to Burial saw them at an interesting cross road between that and the Deftones while being slightly more progressive and generally more subdued. It started off good and crawled its way to being better and better as it went on. As a result, it was the first album by a more mainstream act I had purchased for a long time, outside of the Deftones' recent output. I'm not as taken to (How to Live) As Ghosts, though. It starts to get pretty good from "Ghosts" onwards, but prior to that, it spends its time in relatively up-beat and somewhat regular alternative rock territory. This makes that half of it rather inconsistent with its latter half, which regains a bit more of 10 Years' aforementioned, characteristic sombreness. Nevertheless, it never gets nearly as heavy as its predecessor could get on songs like "Triggers and Tripwires" and "Crimson Kiss". Perhaps that was their point this time? None of it is BAD; it's just missing the ominous touches that made From Birth to Burial so surprisingly compelling. I'm not sure that this one is a buy for me. We'll see.

Easily the best song so far. These songs definitely give a division feel which is interesting because its the last matt worked on until now. I just really wish tater did what he said and still wrote with the band at least. Ive seen a lot of recent interviews and they seem to point out that he was sort of the unknown problem and they didn't realize until he was gone. I just wonder if the band decided against having him write for this album or tater changed his mind.
@ruukusanla6 жыл бұрын
wjveryzer7985 yeh I'm not really sure how I feel about tater right now... I think it's important to know artist direction and relationships change and we can only hope that all peoples involved do better since the changes. No hate on anyone, no gun to a head. But I'm happy this album is around the corner. It's a new feel with old notes... Also check out brave the royals if you haven't already. Brian fucking kills it.

My brother and I were talking and we think this is the best of the three released so far but it's a little over produced. The guitar work feels like the bite has been taken out of it. If the riffs hit a little harder with some more punch, it would take all three of these songs to the next level
@wjveryzer79856 жыл бұрын
Do you mean under produced? I agree tho the guitars definitely lack bite. I just watched a cover version of the song obviously the guitars are up and i went from thinking the song was ok to really liking it.

This album sounds nothing like the last... For one this album is inspired by a rebirth Second the lyrics are more straight forward while 10 years mostly dealt with an almost open concept that can be predeceased in a many different ways and Third normally their music is centered around Jesse's voice while this one is much more balanced. So far this album just sounds amazing. It's unique but still holds onto the sound that made 10 years 10 years.
@BamaRockstar856 жыл бұрын
Been a 10 Years fan since day one and can't wait for the new album to get here but so far the 4 songs they've released have really been letdowns. If I didn't know who they were ( 10 Years ) and heard these 4 new songs I can sadly admit that I wouldn't be drawn to the band. I really really hope that the rest of the album is better than the 4 songs they've released so far.

Good song, but not as strong as the other two we've heard imo. I may have to listen to this a few times, but nothing stands out to me on first listen. Having said that, I have a lot of faith in this album and I expect it will be one of your best in years.
