i apologize if i just missed it or its been asked. But at how many targets do you just start sending barrage at 4 charges? i believe I've seen 2-3 is AOE for SS. And is that the case in raid as well? thank you for the guide! Hello there ! First, thanks for your guide and keep up the good work. I think that i'm not the only one to need your help 😅. I have a question though : in the ST rotation i dont understand why you dont spell queue an Arcane barrage each second arcane Blast to benefit from Neather Precision buff. If i'm not mistaken in your demo of St rotation you do 3 arcanes blast instead of 2 + clip barrage. Since blizzard reverted the nerf, you can clip a barrage like old style, benefit from the new talent Aether Vsion to have 4 arcanes charge garanted, a chance to launch an Orb and get extra splinter in the process. And actually maintain the haste buff. Maybe i'm not very clear or i made a mistake with my english. Just a french guy trying to learn.

Whenever I do a Missiles > Blast > Blast + Barrage, it is usually because I don't have a Clearcasting stack during the second Arcane Blast cast. Because of this, once I complete the cast I will already have 2 stacks of Aethervision and no Clearcasting stack, which fulfills condition 3.a.2 so I queue the Arcane Barrage. Hope this made sense, if you still have any questions just link me a timestamp and I can try to add some more context.

When you Blast>Blast+Barrage, isnt the 3 spells = 2 uses of Neather precision anymore ? I seem like i have a decent ST dps but its lacking in pure aoe, which is Ofc less overall but more prio target+cleave. How much dps do you approx think im losing to the fact that im sometimes using Nether precision on blast to Stack aethervision instead of using barrage more often? Hope to get better at this, im a healer Main looking to Main arcane mage (again) 😄

Generally you want to have 40 stacks ready for a Surge burn in execute (enemy less than 35% HP). Keep in mind it takes about 4 minutes to fully stack so try to plan accordingly.

The only thing I'd suggest is to make the screen evenly split during the rotational demo so its easier to follow on the eyes. The smaller portion being gameplay kinda feels weird. Thank you for the guide. Just one question though, shouldn't we use Arcane Orb before Arcane Surge as an opening for Surge Burn? Even if we don't need charges The 1st middle talent of Spellslinger gives 20% damages, 8sec after using Arcane Orb for EVERY arcane splinter. And Arcane Surge give 8 splinters. If not in ST, in my opinion, it should be done in AOE right?

I like your “barrage now” weakaura, but it is a little difficult to see. Can you modify your nether precision weakaura? Make it change from blue to red (or whatever color) when you should barrage and you have nether precision. Or, just pop up as red when you don’t have nether precision and you ought to barrage. Not sure how hard this is to do, but it would be awesome if you have time and it isn’t too difficult.

No, you will still follow the ST rotation where appropriate using the M+ build, as M+ has ST fights, usually bosses. The M+ build sacrifices some ST firepower for more AOE, and it also has more utility spells which are useful in M+, but in ST scenarios you're following the same rotation and so the conditions for barrage that the weak auras outline remain relevant. It's the AOE rotation itself that has different conditions for when to barrage (ie 4 charges.) He provided some cheat sheets in the description of the vid of how the AOE priority works, as well as ST and funnel, but it's also on wowhead.

Hi, really nice guide. I want to ask something. When i sim my character arcane splinter allways has the highest damage. However when i do the same rotation on a dummy arcane splinter comes out as 5th or 6th on damage. The sim does like 3.2m overall, i do like 3.1m on a dummy. overall dmg output doesnt change but the dmg distribution of the spells changes. ive tried this many times and couldnt make arcane splinter the top dmg spell. Do you have any idea why does this happen ?

I'm getting older, and not really interested in min/maxing and watching every if/then statement in my rotation for procs and such. I understand that I'll lose dps if I don't do this rotation perfectly. But, my question is this. Is there a simpler, more passive, easier rotation build? For example, if I sim my character at 1M dps with this rotation and spec, can I remove like 3 active spells to watch, and add in passive talents that won't get me to 1M dps, but perhaps with fewer buttons I pull 800k? A 20% reduction to simplify things and watch mechanics more seems like a fair trade off to me.

I often have this problem: When I have no netherprecision, no clear casting but have an arcane orb up, I will send the Barrage, leaving me with 0 charges. Then I will orb, which only brings me to 2 charges. I will have to double arcane blast to get back up to 4. Is this correct?

so last condition for barrage is if you have orb charge. if you're running the talent that gives you 2 orbs, there will eventually be a case where you barrage, orb, have 2 charges, and have another orb. Do you barrage at 2? or do you orb for 4 charges (even though it shows it as a lower priority) or do you just send the barrage down to 0 and then orb back to 2?

I would like to support this question, as I am a beginner with Arcane. It would be great if someone could help us. It feels like Barrage is only for buffing purposes, with exception for the Aether Attunement version of it.

I think you meant to say Arcane Missiles, correct me if I'm wrong there. You are correct that you miss out on the damage when you stop the cast, that is why when we get a Missiles cast that hits more targets (due to having the Aether Attunement buff), you do NOT want to clip that cast of MIssiles. We only clip Arcane Missiles casts that are NOT buffed by Aether Attunement. The reason for this is that unmodified Arcane Missiles are very weak, so most of the damage we gain from casting them are from the Nether Precision stacks we generate. When we have the Aether Attunement buff however, the damage gain is worth letting the cast fully channel both in ST and in AoE. Hope that made sense.

In this scenario you Barrage under 4 charges as Intuition/AVx2 will put you back at 4 so while you do lose out on the extra Barrage damage from having less charges, it's worth because you're back at 4 charges and can immediately continue the rotation.

With the barrage conditions removed (but still there for Sunfury), it seems like it's more streamlined than Sunfury, although in practice I've noticed that Glorious Incandescence will overlap with the other conditions anyway so it'll simplify the decision a bit... definitely much easier to keep track of Spellslinger's optimal rotation in AOE, though. Is there a reason btw that SF doesn't take Arcane Tempo into its barrage conditions (re the WoWhead guide for it), seeing as it is also a haste priority spec?

@@Omgitssynd arcane isn't easy compared to frost. Frost you don't need to watch anything, just press buttons and hit the process when they pop up then or after for same dps. Arcane you have to watch 3 different scenarios before you press 1 button while having to do everything else.
