Why your guide is completely different than the on on wowhead or the one Xaryu suggests? Because based on that you either have 70% or more mana than you do the more aggresive rotation or you have less and you do more conservative and either barrage only with 2aethervision stacks or that+np.

To help streamline the explanation of the AV timeline at 13:00 , you always have 2 NP stacks after missiles. Since that's constant, you can just worry about how many AV stacks you have to determine the cast sequence. Like preheat says, this assumes you just cast missiles, you have another clearcasting proc, and no intuition. 0 AV -> Blast, Blast 1 AV -> Blast, Barrage 2 AV -> Barrage, Blast Getting used to identifying this helped me be able to more easily pick the sequence back up after intuition throws you off.

Man I cant thank you enough for the detailed descriptions but also simplified explanations and I feel like I have been underperforming on mage but I knew I was doing something wrong because other mages seemed to be doing just slightly more and i knew it was because I wasnt playing properly around the 2 talents Aether and Nether precision and properly around the barrages and even magis spark on top of the touch of magi. I just did my first 11+ and my dps has increased so much thanks to you. I praticed every little bit on target dummies for almost 2 hours straight because I was so fed up being confused and kept rewinding to make sure I understood exactly what everything meant and it finally clicked THANK THE LORD AND YOU!. What I like about this guide is that I can understand why Porom's WA is telling me to barrage. I'm still going to use the WA because I find it super helpful, and I'd rather focus on the fight rather than all the different circumstances, but I never like the mentality of pressing a button "because the addon tells me to" without understanding the mechanics of why.

I'd love an in depth frost guide with the new changes. I've been playing spellslinger frost this xpac because 1) I don't like arcane's playstyle 2) I'm better at Frost than arcane (it's been easier for me, and I've been playing frost for years) and 3) I do casual raid and m+ content where basically any spec played well is enough to clear the content. So even though I don't care enough about being high end to play a spec I don't like, I do care enough to watch guides like this and want to be as good at my spec as I can be. All this to say, a frost deep dive (especially spellslinger with the changes) would be helpful! Good stuff as always

I solve the problem by changing the trigger spell name into spell ID 467634 in [children-Dynamic Effects > Aethervision] It can happen due to the language difference of your game, while the spell name Aethervision is not in English

The WeakAura you have linked appears to be missing the cast bar. Are you using a different one from somewhere? In the options of the WA you linked it says it should be under resources tab and that you can change if it's loaded or not, but it's not there. I'm assuming you deleted it instead?

Dude thank you for doing the hard work. I felt a bit demotivated to play mage after the changes cause my gear was mainly haste/mast. Had to recraft some stuff but I am using the weakauras for now until i can get better at barraging but this video explained it very nicely and I like when you pause and show buffs. This makes so much sense now, thanks man! Quick one, when running Transmitter, am I right to say you slightly delay burn CDs? Obviously send on pull but then due to shifting power you end up with Evoc etc. up ~12s before trinket is up. I assumed you just do 90/12 and if the fight is >7.5m then you'd get an extra burn out by sending without waiting but if its shorter you wanna hold it?

You’re not just queueing it after two blasts anymore it’s way more annoying and the point you are in the cycle changes constantly depending on intuition and clear casting procs.

Why are you using evocation on pull? Should it not be presence-Surge-magi-missiles-blast and clearcasts until oom then evocate and go into a small burn if needed?

As far as I'm concerned using evocate on pull is bad play to the point of stupidity it's exactly like a druid innervating themselves at full mana. You're supposed to use arcane surge followed by an instant touch of magi that hits before the surge does then go into a full burst window until oom THEN cast evocate. There's no excuse for it when the tooltip for evocation can be easily read.

The goal with barrages is to have it buffed by 2x AV and NP. Everything would be alot more intuitive if NP didnt have extra barrage damage.

I won roll on a mad queen mandate (tl;dc: ret paladin swapped role to hpal to "snipe" council trinket so i rolled need out of spite, he refuses to trade so i equipped it). I have been able to hit 10mil dmg on evo + arcane surge dmg modifier. What's you guys thought on that trinket being utilized. I use it mainly because i don't have anything else.

Honostly i give up. I just dont have it in me to relearn the entire spec every reset. And all that to play the hero talents that just feel bad and clunky af. sunfury was a little complicated but had a good rythem and was super fun. Spellslinger is so bleh. And frost and fire both feel terrible to me..

i dont understand why you arcane missiles after getting two aether vision stack. Wouldnt it be better to just barrage and than blast twice again so you can get another arcane barrage without wasting a stack of aether vision?

Mmmm no, barrage its your spender who do more damage with much %multiplicators on it, so you want to send as many power full barrages posibles, AV give you 20% and NP another 20% so 40% for barrage better than a 20 for blast and 20 for barrage... On CDs its even better because you cant waste much GCD to perform milises---blast---blast---barrage that barrage it a GCD wasted, just send another misiles and do barrage then 20%+20% another blast, again misiles, another blast to 2 staks AV and finish with another barrage 40%, with your rotation lose dps not much for waste multiplicators, its because on magi touch you waste a 4seg GCD and that its deadly dps

What if: In an AOE scenario at the first pull, wouldnt it be better to use Evo->Missles->Clip missles with Orb (gives 4 arcane charges)->Barrage->Touch? On Single target this wouldnt work since you would not get the 4 arcane charges with arcane orb, but in an aoe pack you would.

The issue with this is that if you use the orb later on you can keep "fishing" for procs and only orb when you don't get one. If you use the orb on pull like we did before with High Voltage, you kinda forfeit an orb you could use for barrage-orb fishing. Another cool thing I've seen some R1 arcane mages do is spam arcane explosion as the tank is gathering so you have 4 charges on "pull".
