Huge fan of yours. Your Quazii interview intrigued me and got me to make a BDK. Switched from VDH to BDK and absolutely love it. Appreciate everything you’ve done to help new tanks and people unfamiliar with the class, and your logical approach to theory crafting backed by consistent solid performance in the leaderboards.

I found you from Quazii too! I did Vanilla to WoD, then a huge break until this expac. Been blood dk since WotLK and tanked the entire time. I appreciate your straight forward style and data based approach. Keep them coming! My viewpoint is very narrow as I only do solo delves & some pug M+. The button bloat was getting to me until I scaled back from Consumption and Rune Tap. It might not be 100%, but for my level it's a smoother gameplay and let's me just focus on the dungeon. (I can see how some folks would love having a def cd to pop every 5-10 sec though)

Kyrasis, greatly appreciate your analytic approach to bDK. I wish the baseline physical DR buff from appropraite resource management (i.e. maintaining boneshield charges) was proportional/comparable to other tank specs baseline physical DR (e.g. Shield of Righteous, Ironfur, etc.) to make us more resilient to pug-DPS volatility that disrupts DRW/VB timing/routing DPS is lacking

They should give dk parry levels equivalent to what prot pala has now or veng in DF. Pala has basically perma same parry levels as we do with rune wep up, we are too susceptible to physical dmg…

I do love the what you would say, class fantasy of San'layn, but in my sims it is still far weaker in mythic plus compared to Deathbringer. It relies WAY TO HEAVILY on RNG, and Deathbringer is a gurantee and much safer play.

Question regarding the debate between Consumption and Heartbreaker: At the moment, in a mythic plus environment and using the Deathbringer hero talent tree, Blood plague is doing a fairly large chunk of the overall damage. Considering the fact that only one of the talents is required to fill the rotational holes, shouldn't Consuption always trump over Heartbreaker due to damage implications? Assuming correct play and the ability to maintain coagulopathy.

That is a question without an obvious answer. I get that you are thinking of the blood plague amplification effect, but Heartbreaker provides more raw Death Strike throughput and will ramp/sustain coag better as well as provide better survivability in AoE. Granted, Heartbreaker is not all upsides. The pros and cons of those two are not clearly identified with SimC or mitigation modeling, while the log statistical data doesn't indicate a *clear* favorite (only that Heartbreaker seems to be better for general survivability, which indirectly indicates that Consumption is probably the more aggressive option). There's also a chance that *very* high key levels might justify using both of them just to support a high frequency of both Death Strikes and Rune Taps against some of the more lethal incoming damage profiles, but there are sample size limitations to filtering the key level too high. So, the TL;DR is that I don't have a definitive answer for which combination of final talents is the best and that grouping of final blood talent options is as much as I can definitively narrow the optimal build down to. Data aside, I've played several of the potential final talent combinations for Deathbringer, and, while there are some noticeable differences between them gameplay-wise, I can't even make a clear experienced-based answer on which combination I personally like best.

I went into this season not wanting to commit to a pusg group because I knew I had a baby on the way, so I don't have a good means of regular M+ play at the moment (or too much time for videos), unfortunately. I will, however, keep that in mind when I have chances to make videos.

@@kyrasis9330 Yeah you already do so much with the guide and disc so no pressure whatsoever. I'm just more of a visual learner and tend to be more of a mid-tier BDK player in retail. I've been doing 12s but have had to pug everything so it would be cool to see why it is you choose to drop consumption and heartbreaker when I personally feel like without those talents I would feel more RP starved at times - but you're able to get up to high-end keys just fine without them so it'd be interesting to see the differences in playstyle! Anyway - thanks so much for all the awesome work you do!

@@kyrasis9330 I feel like I checked your io recently and you had no consumption, no heartbreaker and went into bloodied blade. It could have been for testing or I could have just mistaken it. I've tried bloodied blade before - with hemostasis (which I figured hemo would have been really good in m+ because of the extra damage + healing with an easy 5 stack on pulls) and I just felt like bloodied blade wasn't ever really getting to full stacks - and was very unreliable outside of DRW. Any additional thoughts on that? Also, is it ever a good idea to use stoneskin gargoyle? I feel like with the recent cyrce's and the stam gem in it you can get pretty absurd stam levels which to me seems kind of fun.

@rodchester3 Nah, I've been doing Heartbreaker with Bloodied Blade and no Consumption. Hemostasis isn't very good for Deathbringer in M+ compared to alternatives, though it is better on Sanlayn. Bloodied Blade is solid, but I'd say the main issue is that, even if you aren't giving up a capstone, it limits your other talent selections. It is still a solid talent in any case.

Isn’t consumption good for sanlayn cause it pumps up infliction of sorrow dmg?

@Dilllll26 That synergy isn't better than what Deathbringer has with Blood Plague doing double damage, and, in both cases, it is more a question on whether that talent point can do more elsewhere (generally, but not always, Bloodied Blade being the alternative). It takes a lot for me to point to something as being a 0% or 100% pick, and Consumption has some mixed signals from what data is available, while there is also mechanical reasons to think that there might be some merit to no Consumption builds; that was the main point I was trying to drive home. I'm not inclined to disavow Consumption builds for San'layn at this time, but it looks to be something worth experimenting with at a minimum.

I just hate BDK having terrible DR and gets onr shotted. The initial pull is just way too clunky. Abom limb, vampiric, IBF or another mitigation, rune wep, bone storm, Death and decay, tombstone, death strike and THEN! you can start doing dam.... you do those in whatever order you need but regardless its too much for pulls for little reward or getting one shotted compare it to pala: Avenger shield, mitigagion on a non global CD, consecration and we good to go boys!!! Warrior: Charge (non global cd), or shield charge, thubderclap, avatar and thunderclap again with ignore pain and we good to go Bear drood: Charge, spam iron fur no GCD, iron bark (non GCD) linar beam and we good.

BDK suffers from Button bloat. BDK also suffers from lack of team utility in m+
