TIP YOUR GUIDE! As a tour guide myself - thank you for saying this!

To me the best advice I can give: If you are there for a fair time -I go for a month at a time to camp- it to simply BE THERE. You don't have to take a picture of Everything Everyday. Take time to listen and smell and see things around you. Look at the little things as well as the big things. Lions are cool, but wait until you see a line of Hissing Ants or a chameleon at dusk. Do things. Eat around the fire or just sit there as the sun goes down (there are No sunsets like an African sunset, trust me) Listen to the rain if there is any and do not be afraid to walk a bit in the weather. You may never get another change to.

I have a great little "pocket" camera that has an 84x zoom on it. It does a heck of a job on long-distance shots (though I usually use a monopod for those because my hands are getting shaky with age).

Thanks for the info on tipping. It’s the little things that make the trip memorable.

Man, my binoculars and camera gear would take up over 1/3rd of my allowed weight limit. Not sure how to pack around that well. Curious what size/type of duffel bags you used?

Hi! Is it better to book a lodge that includes game drives or book a safari with a tour company that includes everything? Confused about that.

Excellent advice and thumbs up from a.n.other safari addict. Can we think of supporting some of the unseen on rhe ground conservation and anti poaching activity. It was Ruaha and Selous for me in 2019...hopefully back to those terrific Luangwa and Kafue experiences and environments one day....🐘🦓.Yes those early starts and sundowners and keeping quiet when we finally bump into the wild dog....or roan,...while out walking of course.Best wishes ,cheers and a G&T from Manchester,UK
