I LOVE ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS! I already commented on a different video about the class I teach once a week at my local domestic violence/sexual assault shelter and your videos have been such a FANTASTIC resource for me! I supply all the materials needed each week, so it’s awesome to find ways to offset those costs! Thanks again for taking the time to share your knowledge in such a clear and understandable way! My “girls” just LOVE you! I am doing a craft fair this coming Saturday in hopes of raising enough $ to buy a few pieces of equipment that I can leave at the shelter so the girls can make things during the week without having to wait for me to show up with all of my stuff lol I’m taking 2 of the ladies with me so they can get a feel for working with the public, craft fair set up and break down, and so they can REALLY see that their creativity in whatever area, CAN generate an income for themselves and their children if they’re willing to put in the work and to consistently look at things from a fresh perspective! AND THAT is what I love MOST about your videos; your content challenges me to see life through a different, fresher lens! So, thank you again and May God richly bless you and your family!

I’m new here but I’m so in love with all your great ideas. I was in a hurry to get started with the chalk paint but it’s going to be a couple of days until my Amazon order comes in. So I improvised. I had some paint leftover from having our living room and kitchen painted. I also had some sheet rock plaster that was left over from another remodel. So instead of using plaster of Paris, I used the plaster instead and mixed it with my paint. I’m not sure if it was supposed to look this good or not but it is fabulous. Just wanted to share it with you.

For the chaulk paint recipe...PoP with white flat latex, is there anything i can add to the mixture to change the color? I have an abundance of flat white latex. It would be helpful to use it first before buying colored latex paint. If i start with the PoP/white latex and let it dry completely, could i then do a layer of acrylic paint? I would prefer to add the color to the PoP mixture. Thank you for all these amazing tutorials. I enjoy learning from you.
@OurUpcycledLife9 ай бұрын
If you were to add acrylic paint into your chalk paint recipe, I think it would take an awful lot to change the colour and you could definitely put the acrylic paint on top of the chalk paint but I’m unsure of what technique you’re going to do then, because if you’re going to do a transfer, I find the chalk paint surface works the best not acrylic paint

Hey….loving all your videos and graphics! Question: when I made the paint with POP, it turned gray and no matter how much white paint I added, it stayed gray? What did I do wrong? Help!
@retroredo9850 Жыл бұрын
I did a lot of research trying to make chalk paint myself. I opted for just plaster poweder. It looks gray but doesnt stay that way. Maybe the one you bought or the POP if you bought in USA is different. Im in California and some I saw using POP here said it harden weird. Maybe they have that cement element in it. POP is actually 3 calcium products. Only found outside of Paris. Most other calciums in nature are 2 ingredietns, one calcium product and one other element to make it chalk like. Gypsum is. Drywall is chalk but it has a glue in it. We used scraps as side walk chalk

Could you make a black or white salt wash paint? Not a fan of the chippy, multi-colored paint.
@retroredo9850 Жыл бұрын
You can use any color paint as a base for any of the paint methods. I only buy white, black, red, yellow and green paint for decades. I buy paint samples. Mix my own colors. So I mix the color I want first then do the methods. Not actually done the salt wash yet. But I mix my own colors for chalk paint which I use plaster poweder for.

One way to add some extra time to these paints is to add some floetrol. I've used it in a variety of paints (water base), You only need to use about a tablespoon in small amounts of paint, but it can extend the working time by a couple of hours to a couple of days, in certain recipes of paint. Been binge watching your videos, awesome.

I wouldn't use this gesso on a canvas that I would paint something I really wanted to keep a long time, or put a lot of effort into, or treasured, because school glue can rewet if it is in moist environments (humidity). You probably wouldn't want to put glass over it either.
