Andromeda is a remake of Blake's 7. If you look at the first season Andromeda characters each of them is a one for one remake of a Blake's 7 Character. Tyr is Avon. Rev Bem is Olag Gan. Becka Valentine is the least change, she is a clone of Jenna in almost all ways. etc.
@CaritasGothKaraoke19 күн бұрын
@ironwarmonger certainly it’s an influence but not a remake. Cpt. Hunt is not a revolutionary, they’re trying to restore a federation type government not overthrow one, Tyr is nothing like Avon even if they’re both potentially duplicitous, Vila doesn’t have a counterpart in A (no it isn’t Harper, Vila isn’t an engineer), Trance has no counterpart in B7 (Don’t even compare the ever annoying Cally to Trance. Nope) and Andromeda herself is way hotter and more likeable than Zen. And the storylines are nothing alike. You may as well pull in The Lexx too. It’s just as similar.

@jtommygun It ends with at least Voyager. NuTrek (Discovery, Upper Decks, SNW, Section 31) is its own timeline and world and view it as is, not as continuity of TOS and NG. Like Kelvin Timeline is Abrhams own thing (in which Picard Seasons 1 and 2 is considered Kelvin). Question is how do things change after STND "First Contact", if it leads to Enterprise and NuTrek of something else.

It also doesn't hold up to the anime. Honestly, the Netflix series was just underwhelming as hell. Its the only thing on this list that I just straight up disagree with being on the list at all.

Star Trek was not a space opera, it was a space western. Star Wars is the opera
@davidwuhrer670414 күн бұрын
Star Trek is not a Western. It was pitched as a Western because that's what studios understood, and Blazing Saddles hadn't happened yet. But Star Trek is the opposite of a classic Western in every way.
@BXBATMAN14 күн бұрын
@ you don’t have to like it or even agree but it’s western. Even if you deny it being one, it’s closer to being a western than a space opera. “Wagon train to the stars” and that’s a fact.

@@BXBATMAN I agree that it's not a space opera, but it is in fact not a Western either. Read my previous post again.

You obviously don’t understand what Star Trek is for it IS NOT A Space Opera! When Gene Roddenberry was alive he strictly even said this major fact; on top of that, his son Eugene Roddenberry Jr has strictly said the exact same thing! Thus you are 100% WRONG to call Star Trek a space opera! It isn’t even a Space Drama! In fact Star Trek is a series and movie franchise about telling the Human Condition as Gene Roddenberry stated, it’s about using real world events to tell a science fiction story about bringing humanity together to better itself.

Stargate, the movie and show ripped off from the 1982 Roal Playing Game Fringeworthy, by Tri Tac Games. RIP Richard. We will carry on the crusade. The Orville, what happens with Seth MacFarlane has a Bender moment. He got his start as a teen making Star Trek Fan Films and when he heard that CBS was going to make new Star Trek, he when to them and wanted to be part of it. CBS said no, so he went "Find then, I will make my own Science Fiction Show with Hookers and Blackjack, screw the Blackjack and Hookers, I just make a great Science Fiction show".

I`d say of the shows on the list The Expanse was no1 but most of the others are no way bad... Babylon 5 has some of the greatest ever sci-fi episodes ever made... Dark Matter was an awesome series cancelled too soon....(so Killjoys could go on FFS) Firefly is the same never given a real chance to grow...(thank god for Serenity) The end of Battlestar Galactica was disappointing but for 95% of its 5 series was totally awesome.. The Orville should have been bad based on the premise but ended up being so much better.. Farscape could be variable but damn when they got it right they got it very right.. (plus it had an awesome finale in The Peacekeeper Wars) I like the others and recommend them but the previous are all just better...Stargate had its moments so did Killjoys but Andromeda was just way to generic for me and though i don’t think Cowboy Bepop was awful it was disappointing... Its kind of a shame that Blakes 7 effects were so sub par because acting and storywise it would easily make the top ten.....

Some of those shows were quite good. But it seems the following was left out. Could be because not all the story lines were about space. One thing is for sure, they are first when it comes to having a machine that can get you where you want to go in no time. Second would be the stargate. Stargate is anchored while this is not - kzbin.info/www/bejne/en-om6tsjbqVnLM

I guess it depends on how you define "reboot". I'd love to see a continuation where it ended, but--with the exception of Galactica--most remakes are disappointing. If something is good enough there should be no need to remake it.

Your list is valid by virtue of inclusion of the Expanse. However, you have a mistake in your premise: You say shows that aren't Star Trek, but then include Orville.
@keithcraig50619 күн бұрын
Orville is not Star Trek. It's Star Trek-esque, but there's no connection. As the video said, it started as a kind of spoof on Star Trek but then it grew into its own thing.
