The number one beginner's tip I've ever seen for this game is a tip I don't think any other beginner's tip could ever really compete with. It changed how I approach every game of this entire genre, but ESPECIALLY Sekiro, and it allowed me to enjoy the game again when I was struggling the most. The tip is this: Don't approach fights-especially boss fights, and especially your first encounter with a boss-with the goal of winning. Forget winning entirely. Really. Your only goal should be to learn about the fight. If you go in expecting to win, there's a high likelihood that you'll just come out angry that you didn't win. However, if you go in with your mind locked onto just seeing what attacks the enemy does and how they're timed (Sekiro boss fights are low-key rhythm games, remember that,) what you can and can't do, what works, when you can do what does work, etc., and if your only goal is improvement, then you never really lose because every time you fight, even if you die, you've achieved some small bit of improvement. Even if all you achieve is one more exposure to the fight, all those exposures eventually add up to muscle memory, and each exposure is growth in that regard, even if you die. The improvement is always there, even if you think it isn't. Do not seek victory, seek only improvement. Then, as you do improve, the victory will eventually happen on its own, as a nice big bonus. Also, death doesn't matter. Dragonrot doesn't matter. Losing Sen and XP don't matter. All that matters is that you continue to push on again and again. That's the name of the game, so to speak.

Something you should know as well if you plan on playing Ghost of Tsushima as well. In GoT, you’re supposed to play like the “Ghost” you are and don’t always fight with honor. Of course for many of us, we end up getting punched in the face because of our pride and ego. That’s something I’m going to have to fix before playing Sekiro. I am quite good at DS and BB with me beating Gehrman second try but parrying is different from deflecting.

Here are some extra tips for people that weren't covered in this video: 1-Use goddamn quick items, from oil to fistful of ash to sugars to cermaic shards (for stealth). Each of them can be used in certain situations and accompanied by certain prosthetic tools will destroy your enemies easily (flame vent/Leaping flame spear/mist raven + oil. Axe/Sabimaru + fistful of ash.) 2. USE ALL prosthetic tools, they are all useful in certain situations against certain enemies and with each upgrade the possibilities increase. Get creative, destroy everyone in flames or just lure them to their death 3- Know your enemy, all Okami warrior descendents get rekt by sabimaru (O'Rin of water for example. Apparation enemies are destroyed in seconds with malcontent(headless) etc 4- Anything that isn't an unblockable attack is blockable and deflectable and the game will teach you this early. Bull? Deflect his charge or use firecrackers and his posture goes insane, Divine Dragon? Deflect that bitch and stop running (altho deflecting removes the fun from that fight so personally I still run). Ogre is jump kicking your face from acrosd the arena? Block/Deflect
@rinnnnnnnnnnrinRinOnishi5 жыл бұрын
Honestly its alot better to dodge around the ogres and keep a minimal distance/baiting out its attacks. They're weak/scared of fire so sparingly use the oil/flame vent combo on it. Oil boosts the chance of getting burned by pretty much 100% For samurais it's best to keep constant pressure and parry constantly/dodge counter. Both greatly damage posture on all enemies
@rinnnnnnnnnnrinRinOnishi5 жыл бұрын
Save sugars for mini bosses and main bosses except the vitality and stealth sugars since the vitality sugar helps against multiple enemies and the stealth is obviously universal

“If it [the posture bar] is getting dangerously full, switch to dodging”. Well... Yes and no. A key thing that we old soulsborne players might not realize on our own (I know I didn’t), is that Posture is NOT like stamina. That is to say, in Souls games, guarding slows down stamina regen significantly forcing you to eventually change tack or else be guard-broken. In Sekiro, when your posture bar is at all filled, guarding rapidly *increases* Posture regen. So long as you aren’t being actively hit, after a split second of guarding, your Posture meter drains away very quickly. It makes sense in game terms. You’re regaining your footing, which one could do if they focused on a strong, defensive stance without being struck. Basically you want to wail on any enemy you have to fight head on until they parry you (or are otherwise about to attack). Then guard their attacks, ideally parrying them if you can. If your posture bar fills before theirs, that’s when you want to back off and guard to lower the bar. The game doesn’t make this quite so explicit as it does the mechanic whereby enemies with more health regen posture much faster, requiring you to whittle their health down with the right attacks first, but it does give you the tools to figure this out. While I’m at it, dodges and even jumps *do* have i-frames. It’s possible to dodge or jump from danger, however the enemies have much better tracking on this game, so it’s less simple to avoid damage this way. At best you need to at least know where your dodge will put you after the i-frames run out. (Learn not to jump away when you jump over unvlovkable sweep attacks. Firstly you’re liable to be hit when you come down otherwise, secondly you’ll miss the chance jumping straight up or toward the enemy affords you to head stomp them. This is for when your trying to do posture damage.)

Also, you didn't mention this but you health is taken into consideration when you start gaurding posture away, 80-100% is rapid 50% is slower, and 30% is barely any, being gaurd broken at the end of a combo is the best thing if you are low without any remaining health items

@billybegood4664 жыл бұрын
I came from all three Dark Souls, and I'm still finding Sekiro hard to get a handle on. I think the weirdest thing for me is the parry system. It seems like a parry isn't always a parry. Sometimes you get the little parry animation, but you don't get the deathblow, or sometimes you have to parry three times in a row. I'm still working that out.
@MadaraMK14 жыл бұрын

Honestly the best tips for me is don't treat this game like your usual souls game, rolling i-frame is least useful than other game because every battle is about deflection. Almost every attack in the game can be deflected. Timing is key and close quarter combat triumph over anything else since it will limit your enemy moveset and keep their posture still/stop recovering.

Theyre both fairly easy fights I got on my first run. There are much harder ahead, I just got off after getting my ass handed too me again...The only thing I could ask for is a better training dummy. It's all trial and Error. Learning what works and doesnt work. Memorizing attack patterns. But you really want to learn to stay on the offensive. Not be afraid to attack once or twice after deflecting. If you start seeing the posture meter as a health bar, it might help you understand the importance of posture. Theres a KZbinr that has vids on parying every attack on every boss. Could check out his vids to help you learn the bosses combos without worrying about getting pummeled your self. This game is hard but you are given all the tools to beat it. only through perseverance will you master it.

BloodBorne Old Hunters DLC and the rooted & cursed dungeons with 50% hp cut in the regular game ruined me for every other Souls game so far... Now i find everything to easy and expect much higher difficulty to get the same thrill and challenge i had from BloodBorne. I wish i played this game after Dark Souls 3, Sekiro and Demons Souls Remake and not before ._.

I started today on M+KB and find it doable. Also finished DS3 this way. The tutorial/hints are for controllers but just get used to the keys and you should be good.

the video is deceiving.. You can only buy off one off a "memorial mob" merchant. Same with Gourd seeds only ever one off the first memorial mob merchant.

I stopped playing this game a year ago when I couldn't get past the Chained Ogre. After life kicked my family and me in the teeth for a few months, I coincidentally decided to give it a shot again. I loaded it up and made it past him in the first try, and I don't know what to make of that.

Its absolute bull$hit that you lose so much money when dying! In combination with the loss of XP, it can happen that you cannot defeat a certain boss. Simply because you do not have enough funds and XP to either buy new Skills nor mandatory items or both! Leading to a complete progress STOP that requires a tremendous amount of annoying GRIND!
@MadaraMK14 жыл бұрын
sorry to be an asshole but the only way of defeating a boss is to master the base mechanics of the game. XP is only really useful for skills
@kght2225 жыл бұрын
2:04 based on how you treat that boss after the sneak attack, it really didn't matter unless you don't know how to use your controls.
