11 Generation Family Farm Building For Future Generations (Oake Knoll Farms)

This 11 generation farm is in the heart of Foxboro, MA. If that town name sounds familiar to you, that is where the New Englands Patriots Football Stadium is located. But it's not just the name of the town, Oake Knoll Farms properly line meets that of the stadium. To keep up with the times, Terri and her husband, Nevin, are transitioning the farm away from the WWII bunker parlor to a robotic facility. They sell their raw milk, cheese, and meats in their farm store along with other local farm products. This farm has seen some crazy growth around them and Terri won't let it end this historic farm; she is building a farm that will withstand for generations to come.

I think I win the who-drives-the-furthest-distance prize. I used to live in Boston, and drove to Terri's farm semi-regularly - took about 40 mins to get there. Because she was a health inspector for MA and was mentioned in an article for the Boston Globe on food safety / raw milk (saying something like if every farm implemented Terri's practices, all farms would be so much better off), I tried raw milk. So so so so good. Not like some other farms. After moving to Quebec, I have driven to her farm maybe twice. Worth it!

She is spot on about letting consumers vote with their dollars. When we are producing clean and safe high quality goods we should have no problem being fully transparent with letting people view our farm and learn more about how their food is made. Then they can choose what’s best for them and their families. IMHO

Oh how I remember the good ol' days when there was just a self pay box, and few chest freezers full of milk, eggs and meat. You guys have come such a long way, and I'm happy I have helped contribute to this in my very small ways over time, so you guys can keep growing and expanding. Best raw cows milk in the whole New England area IMO. Amazing options from Farm to table. Good luck with everything guys, I'll be down soon from Boston for another round of Raw Milk :)

My goodness! I've been a Lawton's retail customer since 2008 and had no idea such things were going on behind the store! I've tried to make some of the Saturday open houses over the years, but obligations always pull me away. I used to work at a teaching farm of a Massachusetts environmental organization that kept 3 or 4 cows some pigs, chickens, etc., so I have some feel for this, but the detail Terry goes into here, wow! The only thing I'd add is that it would be nice if the video had wandered into the retail store because they've really done a lot there too.

I love her ethics about the cleanliness of her milk. I used all natural products for all of my “hand milking supplies and had my raw milk tested and was amazed at the overall results. The usda requires 10 or less parts per million bacteria in pasteurized milk. I tested at 2 on my raw milk

That’s awesome!!! When I was growing up we were still a dairy and my Gpa was meticulous on the “data” from the milk. From the cleanliness and ppm being extremely low to the butter fat being extremely high. Taking pride in the numbers and quality of product and the rest should follow.

Very interesting. She definitely has a passion for it and with her background, coupled with hubby, I think they will do well. I grew up on a dairy farm and so I find myself drawn to these operations as well. I find it interesting. That is cool that they are milking Ayshire. If I am not mistaken you might run into a few dairies in that part that are milking Canadienne cattle too. I understand why folks are going to robotic milkers, I just can't make it make sense to me how it is a good idea financially. I like how they have their temporary barn set up. Good video.
