Thomas Davis recorded two sacks, recovered a fumble and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown as the Bulldogs got off to a big first half lead and held on for a 37-23 win over the Crimson Tide. Video starts toward the end of a 14-play field goal drive after David Greene was intercepted on his first pass and Alabama took advantage with a field goal of their own.

CBS's coverage in this game is much better than usual. We hear the bands much louder, the cheerleaders and the crowd are featured more to give the viewer more of feeling of what it is like being at the game. Todd Blackledge's analysis is sound as usual for him, wherever he has been on TV ( with the gross exception of making excuses for Mike Shula irresponsibly putting in an injured Brodie Croyle only to have his shoulder injury worsened). Why don't see see the halftime shows anymore? Seeing out of context highlights and being subjected to blowhards in the studios who are not at the games is worthless. Georgia is much more energetic on both offense and defense in this early stage of Mark Richt's time at Athens. The offensive play calling was resourceful and unpredictable. The defense was ferocious and usually consistently sound. During these early years of Richt's coaching reign, Georgia was more consistently up for the games. The exception was the championship game against LSU in 2003. Even the game against LSU that year in Baton Rouge was off. The first hint of the motivation problem that later characterized Richt's teams really showed in the close win over UAB this year. But something happened to Georgia's energy and creativity especially on offense as time went along in Richt's time at Georgia. I wonder if it had to do with the losses of Neil Callaway and Brian VanGorder as his Offensive and Defensive Coordinators later on or it was something else such as a change in the caliber of players that Richt recruited. David Greene and David Pollack were critical in not only their play but their leadership as players. Georgia still has problems with Kirby Smart with their unimaginative offense and being flat at times.

Georgia plays better now then they did back then the only difference is Saint Nick coaches at Bama and we don't have a sorry no good coach anymore. These teams from 1998 to 2007 were crap.

How many touchdowns did the Alabama offense score? If the game had lasted another 5 minutes, Bama would have had to put their punter in as QB.
