I don't understand why these "best landings" videos usually have a landing on a road in them. Why is it a special skill? I find it just dangerous and irresponsible.

The road landings are from competitions like the X-Alps. They often land in places where the road is the only choice. And of course they often land on road to save time or get closer to that next col hike. There are far riskier things in those comps then road landings.
