We use the tp rolls, paper towel rolls and tissue boxes for fire starters, too. Except, I stuff the paper wrappers from butter and the wax from cheese into those, too. We squish them down and store in a plastic bucket so they do not attract "guests," there is no risk of detecting odirs, and the starters stay dry until ready to use.

One thing I learned is that if you use a dryer sheet to clean your lint screen, the substance from the sheet can eventually clog up the screening. Going through regularly and wiping out your dryer and lint trap with a very mild soap and water (very mild, use only a drop Dawn to a quart of water) will stop that problem.

You can also get an Anker Gaan Charger of 100 W with 2/3 ports. That’s enough to fully charge a MacBook. Micro and lightning will also soon be obsolete for new tech so making sure you have a few USB-C to C cables are handy. Magtame is also a brand that has magnetic cables that don’t get tangled. I know this video is about using household items, but sometimes spending a little extra money in the long run will be extremely helpful..

Even though our dryer hose was not kinked at all, it was about 3 foot long. When we repainted our laundry room, we upgraded our vent and the hose so it now goes more directly out the vent. This has made a huge difference in the time it takes to dryer clothes. Only takes about half as long. I'm sure this saves money on my electric bill, and saves me time too.

I have made “new” cuffs on jackets or reinforced the cuff of an old sweater by understitching a sock. It’s no visible, it’s underneath but gives strength to worn cuffs. Decades ago when our kids were small, I decided I was tired of wasting money on wrapping paper, so I started to make gift bags out of fabric that I had on hand, or Christmas prints that I bought in January when they went on sale. We still use wrapping paper when giving gifts that go outside the family, but we've been using some of the same fabric bags year after year for more than 30 years. We also have a relative who has dreadfully artritic hands, and wrapping gifts was painful for her, so I made lots of bags for her to use --- all she has to do is pop the gift in the bag and tie it closed with a piece of yarn. She has used them for years.

They save a lot of time you would normally spend wrapping. I enjoy the creativity of fashioning the gift bags from things like graduation gowns, an old prom dress and fabric samples. They are embellished with buttons and pieces of ribbon and lace. For packages too large for the gift bags I buy scarves at thrift stores and use the furoshiki method of wrapping.

A piece of bread will make brown sugar soft again. I use toilet paper rolls to collect lint from the dryer. These make good fire starters for the fireplace or camp fire. Also lint can be used on the bottom of planters and pots of plants to keep the soil inside and not come out through the drain holes when watering. If you have sweet potatoes that start to sprout close to planting time in the spring you just snap off the sprouts and put in a jar of water to root them. Plant them in the garden to produce sweet potatoes. I use plastic grocery bags to collect the dirty litter in the cat box. I purchased spout lids for wide mouth mason jars. These are perfect for storing rice and other pantry items. I love Bath and Body Works 3 wick candles. When the wax is gone I remove the labels and wash the jars out. Great video. A Few things. I use bread heals to keep my brown sugars soft, it's fast acting too if you're in the middle of a bake, it will soften within minutes. Secondly, it's the fabric softener from the dryer sheets that make the dryers lint catching screen ineffective for catching lint. You can of course wash the invisible film off the lint catcher, but definitely I wouldn't recommend using a dryer sheet to remove the lint from the dryers lint catching screen, that will just add to the creation of an inefficient lint catcher in your dryer. Fabric softener Dryer sheets are also good mosquito repellants, I stuff them in pockets and in kids socks. Like you, I have them but mostly don't use them. I do use them when we travel and will be doing our own laundry.

I wanted to hang another rod in my closet for extra hanging space. Then I saw the price😮 So I took a look around for cheap options. I ended up cutting a plastic milk jug into strips and stapling them into a chain. It wasn't pretty, so I went to the thrift store and got a silk shirt and cut off the sleeves to cover it (I had to add a few inches of extra fabric, but the shirt was only $1.) For the rod itself, I cut off a mop handle, painted it, and used a few zip ties to secure it to the chain. I don't hang heavy items on it. I think I might punch holes in the rings and secure them with zip ties. They do stretch into flat ovals and being covered, don't leave indentations on the clothes hanging next to them. I also did similar to hang an extra rod in the bathroom for drying clothes. I just got a few s-hooks so I can put it up/take it down as needed. That one I did secure with zip ties, lol.

Apple trees require companion apple trees for cross pollinating to produce fruit. Unless you graph another apple tree branch onto it, but it is easier to plant another tree. Even if you don't eat the apple, bird peck at them, or you can dry and freeze them for bird food during the winter months. Many bird species love fruit like apples, cranberries, blueberries along with the seeds in the winter. Birds keep insects in check so it is worth planting fruit trees.
