Cleaning supplies, I reuse old bedsheets or towels for cleaning and clean with dish soap and vinegar. And I use vinegar as a fabric softener which helps clean the washing machine as well.

There's a lady online who has a Christmas and a birthday drawer and she buys the gifts in advance year long. I like making a gift wish list for family and friends. I list all the things I need and they can buy one item from the list for Christmas or birthday. Some of my friends aren't on board with it, saying there's no surprise. I say, but I'll be very happy with whatever I get like this 🤣

For those of you who live in an apartment like me with communal recycling bin, I always go through it for spent laundry containers as it usually has residual amount in it that is good for one or two loads. As a matter of fact for the twelve years I have lived in this building, never had to buy any laundry detergent so far.

Beside using the water saved for watering plants - when waiting for the hot water, we use ours to flush the toilet. We have 2 buckets by the shower that we use and rotate. Our bathroom is a loooong way away from the hot water heater. We can generally get 2 flushes from the water of waiting for the hot water of 1 shower.

I’m terrified of running out of money in retirement and I don’t want to eat cat food when I’m in my 70’s. I’ve been frugal much of my life… making my own meals, coffee, etc… although I do indulge when I’m on vacation or taking my girlfriend out to dinner.

Okay, i live in central Florida! Last june our election bill was out of control for my standards. Now, we already kept things not being used unplugged and used a toaster oven instead of the large range. BUT! I turned the breakers off to the dryer and range! I started line drying everything with an umbrella clothes line i found laying by the road 😂 only using the toaster oven (which has always lived in the garage to cut down on heat coming into the houae) and I started using a single burner induction cooktop. Then, we put the ac at 77-79 during the day and 76 at night. In the next month, our electic bill wemt down $95 dollars!!! And it continues to go down. Currently, our bill is only $120 a month. And for a house hold of 6 in hot Florida, thats really good!!!

I agree with decluttering, over the holidays I got rid of old linen, surplus furniture, niknaks, clothes, wall pictures, electronic waste and kitchen items. However, there's no way I am getting rid off old gamily, grandma's vases or mum's jewellery. I got rid of sentimental thing years age and regretted it!

Utilize the word use. 😊 it has the same exact meaning, uses less letters and syllables, and quite honestly is more succinct and less pompous. I heard this once years ago and I cringe every time I hear the word utilize since then.

Another idea for the bathroom clutter, I found shallow wire shelves that I hung on the inside of my cabinet door and this is where I keep my face wash/skincare routine. So it’s all placed in order of when I use them and I can just shut the door when I’m done.

Thanks for all your ideas! I had grandparents who lived through the depression ... I've learned so much from them. I have cut my CABLE bill in half (saved $140.00 mo. after 2 attempts). It took a couple of attempts. I now have very basic 15 channels plus local regular channels. It's cheaper than other TV subs. services. Living alone ... TV is connection. Furniture - save and buy higher quality: I purchased a love seat at a well known furniture store over 20 years ago. I still have it. I shampooed it regularly (with a small carpet cleaner); replaced the cushion interior pillows, etc... Only in the last year has the exterior structure shown its wear, and fabric started to tear here and there. I plan to donate it to habitat for humanity. I understand they will re-use a good furniture frame and then re-build it. One of the easiest things for me was/is building up pantry and dry goods. Plus, I keep slowly increasing the amount of canned, dry and freezer foods on hand. With coffee and baking goods going up in prices (due to weather issues and in the future possible tariffs, the best I can do on a set income are 2 things: a) buy a larger size, ex. coffee and/or b) always have a 2nd flour/sugar/baking powder or soda, etc. on hand. If I hear that prices are set to go up (for any reason), I add another. Since I do a lot of baking (like my late mother and grandmothers), they don't go bad; I do use glass containers with good lids. Last for this time ... I make my own extracts. Even with the price of vanilla beans and vodka ... its SO much cheaper to make my own. Nice gifts for others too.

@audreyd1003
@audreyd1003 15 сағат бұрын
@@cookiestar2702 Very easy. Buy vanilla beans (online); buy vodka (cheap is fine). Split the beans then place in extract bottles (or simple mason jars). Fill the bottles with vodka, seal bottles tightly. Place bottles away in a dark space under the sink or in a rarely used cabinet for a few months. Some other extracts (almond for example) are a little more complicated but not much. Enjoy the process. Extracts make great gifts too!!

Hey 👋🏻 there! New subbie here. I just stumbled upon your channel and I’m glad I did. I use a digital grocery list and cost compare various brands. Even 2 cents an ounce adds up in big savings. Convenience foods are a budget killer - watch the Food Network and learn to cook from scratch. 🤗

I’m single so I just have a tiny table with a lamp. On the other side (on the bed) I have a little fabric “bed basket” where I keep lip balm, tv remote, eye mask and a tiny emergency finger light. Behind that rests a small box of Kleenex. And a phone charger cord is fed through the back of the bed frame. Oh right. And a fan. Also on the other side of the bed. I’m menopausal. Lol.

If I see something I want to buy, if it wasn't on a list, I wait at least 24 hours and talk myself out of it. If I still want it after waiting a few days, I buy it the next time I go shopping.

Also for fabric, look for deadstock sale stores. They buy up leftover fabric stocks from the industry and sell it for (usually ) dirt cheap. Ive gotten insane yardage dor barely any money from my local one. (It's in Austria tho, so idk if that exists in the US)

#13 i love your suggestion for task lighting! Growing up if I wasn't in a room while the light was on my parents would walk by and turn it off! No matter if I was back 2 minutes later. It stuck with me. Now I use lamps. I don't get blinded by bright over head lights I have it just where I need it ❤

Thrift stores are also a good way to save. I buy shirts there and wear them for cleaning and outdoor chores. If they get stained no big deal. Also thrift stores have 1/2 off days. Like all green tags are 1/2 off. When shopping in dept stores see what days are for senior discounts.

I have a laundry tip-white vinegar does wonders removing odors from clothes/towels. You can use a little less detergent and add some white vinegar to your load. I buy it in the big jugs when I go grocery shopping. It has so many uses!

Thanks for sharing Jennifer, I'm a constant declutterer & am just starting charity bag number 27 since September 2023. I've realised that I need a highly simplified environment & life if possible to stop me becoming too overwhelmed & anxious. I mentally cheer as every unwanted item leaves the house now & as each thing goes I feel that little bit more free 😌 Hope you have a great week 😊🤗

Hey Jennifer, thanks for another great video 😊 I think the most ridiculous thing I ever saw was the option to buy Mcdonalds in 3 easy payments! 🤔 Sometimes I feel we've lost the ability to wait just generally or go without things we really don't need, there's just way too much convenience now & I don't feel it's doing us any good overall 😏
