Traveled same cruiseline in 90. Planning another one for Jan/Feb of 2023 as my fiancée has pancreatic cancer and, in our 7 years together, we have never taken a vacation. It looks like things have changed alot since then. It was the best memory I ever experienced. Things seem so different now. And alot more expensive. I think we are going with Royal Caribbean, as that seems to be what our TA suggested. I hate having to deal with figuring out airfare. A travel agent handled the airfare on my last cruise. I do drink, however, he does have a medical excuse where he can't drink. Taking the stairs, as suggested in another video is not going to be possible for him, nor is standing in a long line. Should be some special for disabled people whi are terminally ill. We got some decent quotes, but back when I went, they didn't even offer drink packages. It was definitely fun, but I was in my 20s. Now that I'm in my 50' the couple's pillow fights, wind up frog racing contest and couples beer drinking contest isn't as appealing as it was 30 years ago. We ported from San Juan and our airfare was included. Now, I am going crazy trying to find inexpensive flights and praying he doesn't get sick. I wish this planning was so exhausting. Our cruise was worth it. I won $1000 playing bingo, our waiters at dinner put on such an amazing show. Beds turned down every evening with a treat on our pillows and since we ported out of San Juan, we got to explore there and then sailed to St. Thomas, St. Marteen, Barbados, Antigua and Martinque. It was only a 7 day cruise. The list of activities and excursions were left on our pillow every night. They excursions were around $40 per person. 1 took us to an Island where there was nothing but a free rum punch stand and we all got snorkeling equipment. But everything has gone up so much. We know this is probably the one and only vacation we will be able to take as his cancer is stage IV and he was diagnosed a year ago. I hope that booking now for January isn't too last minute. Now the cruises have 3 ports. I like the idea of going to Jamaica, but I think Barbados is overrated and never pictured myself going to Haiti. If anyone can give me some pointers, I'd appreciate it.

I figured out that if you buy at least 10 drinks a day out of the 15 allowed on the package it pays for itself. Guinness is $6 a can and that package is $59 something per day so there is your math. Until the last cruise I had no idea the drink package includes premium water, milkshakes, energy drinks, soda and premium coffee. I agree with the Havana rule thingy if you paid to stay in that area it should only be for Havana guests like it is on NCL in their premium area.

You can also bring your own standard bottle of wine or champagne!! 1 per person 21 or over. My boyfriend and I both brought one last year for our anniversary. If you don’t bring your own bottle opener though, they will charge to open the bottle. So basically pop it in your room and bring it open 🤪

I don't want to get sick on vacation being a "foodie" on the islands. Sanitary regulations aren't always required as a part of island restaurants routines. Carnival really try to have island flavors on the ship.

Greater chance of some type of airborne virus landing on the machine, in case it goes unnoticed by the person. But, it's all good though. Better safe than sorry and one never knows how often those machines are actually thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

There isn't a form to fill out to receive the OBC shareholder's credit. All you have to do is send an email to the required email address with a copy of your proof of stock ownership and let them know your names, ship, date sailing, cabin # and booking number. I usually got a reply within a week letting me know that the OBC has been added to my booking. You can also get the same benefit on any of their sister lines owned by Carnival. That includes Princess and Holland America.

I book shore excursions in Mexico that includes alcohol. A tour for $100 or $60 with drinks is a great deal. I will do the seven yourself beer on the Panorama.. Also the first night steakhouse wine bottle and Chefs Table you really don't need a drink package.

Yes. RCI has different drink packages and promos all the time and it is unlimited whereas Carnival cuts you off at a 24 hour maximum, as stated in the video. But seriously, should anyone NEED more than 15 drinks a day in 24 hours every day of the cruise? If so, carnival should slip an AA card and a referral to a liver transplant centre under the cabin door for those people.

if you are on the "dream" class or "vista" class you can go to ocean plaza and have breakfast. it is so quiet. i basically had my own personal server every day..eggs, bacon, oatmeal, grits, toast and cereal. also, the spa has a beautiful locker rooms with showers, lockers and hairdryers. i used it all week and let my wife have the cabin bathroom. it literally took me 3 minutes to get there from our room.

I never knew about Blue Iguana for breakfast! Thanks for the tip. I LOVE Mexican food ❤️. One of my own tips to offer - on a 6 day (or longer) cruise, they will offer steak and sushi in the main dining room at no extra charge on at least one day of your cruise! No need to pay for a specialty restaurant so long as you’re patient enough to wait until the day these items are offered in the main dining room. How do you know when that will be? You can check the menu posted outside of the main dining room each day to see what the new items are offered each day so you can plan ahead - there is also a “standard” menu that serves the same food throughout the cruise (in addition to the extra menu that changes daily but steak and sushi are not on the stars far daily menu without surcharge, if I remember correctly). So if you’re patient and not picky which day you get your free steak or sushi then just wait for it to be served in the main dining room and don’t bother paying for the specialty restaurant for these food items!

Just got back from a carnival cruise. The tag holders great idea, differently will use them again. The magnet clips and hooks didn't work, our walls weren't magnet walls. The outside door was. We did leave our cabin Stewart a note on the outside of our door. Don't need highlighters these days everything is on the hub

I’m not aware of any states that have “all you can drink” plans. I’ve never been to a bar in any state where you pay X amount and drink all you want. I mean, casinos get away with it because they don’t charge you any money upfront. It’s kind of a clause in the way they say the drinks are free although we know those are the most expensive drinks in the world. I’ve been to plenty of clubs in Mexico where you paid an entrance fee and they let you drink all you want but that’s Mexico and might explain why it is the way it is.

I have big issue with faster to fun. I earned that perk as a platinum cruiser and I have load was all the paid F2F people. In some ports the wait was less going through the regular line. Almost not worth being loyal to line if you can just buy the perk.

VERY few companies have canned water but one(Blue Can) will ship it to you from its location out of California. Budweiser also cans water but only during a disaster and it's availability differs from location. You could also pick up water pouches but it's less than 12 oz.

Last year on the Vista I tried the Pour Your own Beer twice, but neither time it worked. Walked to bar to mention it. Bartender gave me free drink both times. I had the Cheers package, so if I swiped at the terminal, it counted as a drink. Nothing came out of the tap. Yes, during open hours.

The boarding process for Carnival last summer (2019) out of NYC was horrendous! The terminal was sweltering hot and the wait time was nowhere near the boarding time given. I will say the Soda package (Bubbles) was well worth the money! Except the last day there's nowhere to get an actual drink as all the bars and restaurants were closed. Too bad most of the ice machines were either always out of ice or out of service. Same for the juice machines.

I bought the required 100 shares and promptly sent my info to them via the fax number they gave me 3 seperate times. Went on 3 cruises and never got the credits promised. Too much trouble and the stock is fairly worthless as an investor so I sold that reinvested and still keep cruising.

Linda Sensabaugh That is super sad. I bought my 100 shares about five years ago and I have used about $3000 worth of Stockholder onboard credits. I have never had trouble sending it to them but I never faxed it I always emailed it ..I don’t have a fax. But with an email I could see whether the email went through and whether or not they reply. If they didn’t reply to me within a week then I would resend it or check with my PVP about its status or go online and look at my invoice to see if it had been applied to that booking.

Is there any extra fees? I was gonna book 2 tickets (200 per) and noticed they charge $75 for fees on top of each ticket. Is that the only fee I will have to pay ticket wise? I read somewhere that you'll have to pay a gratuity fee everyday

@@CouchDog there are taxes and port fees you have to pay. You can opt out of the gratuity fees if you want, but that would be like going to a restaurant and not tipping your server. They rely on tips to feed their families. Lots of the workers are sending money back home....cruising is, by far, the cheapest vacation you can take. Where else are you going to be fed, housed, and entertained for 5 days for that price. Let me know if you want any tips about where to pick your room on the ship, etc.

@@lokeyborders Hi!! For me it's worth the extra money for a balcony. But I'm an early riser and sit out there and read or late in the evening with a drink. If you don't think you will be in your room much it's WAY cheaper to have an inside room. If you are afraid of being sea sick, pick a room in the middle of the ship...there is less movement there. If you aren't worried about that and you are getting a balcony the views from the back of the ship are amazing. Avoid rooms that are directly under the clubs or sports bars like the plague. They will be loud all night long. I almost always the highest deck available and near the spa area. Those rooms are usually in dead in hallways so the traffic and noise is greatly decreased...but these rooms will cost a bit more...worth it to me. Stay away from rooms right near the elevators....people stand there and are loud...especially once the alcohol has started to flow. Get a set of battery powered twinkle lights off Amazon and bring some packing tape. Tape them to the outside of your door...they will stay lit the entirety of your trip and your room door will be easy to find.

NCL free at sea isn't actually free; you pay more for a stateroom with "free at sea" options than you do for the same room without the options. It does save you money, but it isn't actually free.

@Handsome B. Wonderful it's actually at the 10:00 mark. Pouring a beer like that will get you MAYBE a half cup by the time the head goes down which will also be when the timer runs out if you're lucky. My guess is Cruisely didn't have a tripod to use and just bit the bullet on how much beer he'd end up with or just paid for more time.

@Handsome B. Wonderful only if you're trying to pour a tequila sunrise lol Even when you pour a stout like Guinness, you'd try to have as little of a head as possible but then stouts are meant to be served at room temperature. Pilsners, lagers and ales are best cold.

At the Carnival Panorama ship, you can bring a bottle of wine per person you just have to pay the corkage fee of 15 bucks, you can save a lot of money that way since a bottle of wine on a cruise ship sells for no less than 40 bucks.

As far as my knowledge goes on carnival cruises since 2018 and I’ve cruised a few times 1. is that of age guest 21+ are allowed one bottle of wine or champagne to bring onboard (so each guest in a cabin can bring a bottle) 2. We were allowed to bring a case of water didn’t matter what kind, it wasn’t specified ( maybe with being more environmental conscious that has changed)

Last Cruise we went on there was 5 people in a cabin we all bought a bottle and carnival did not confiscate it. I also bought a case of water because I’m a diabetic and they did not take that either or my brother’s case of Pepsi. You have to put it in your carry on bag that you bring on the ship not a checked bag. Also we were told we had to carry the water to our room

Yeah their website says you can bring one bottle of wine/champagne and up to 12- 12oz soda cans as a carry on. You cannot take energy drinks or water. I called Carnival and they verified this info.

Yes you can take one bottle of wine or champagne per adult. you an no longer take bottled water, but you can take a 12 pk of canned soda or caned sparkling water. They stopped allowing bottled water/gatorade etc since too many people were trying to sneak in alcohol
