You should be appointed national treasure of Iceland. You do dispel the cliches about the cold detached people from the North. I wonder whether you are a teacher or an actor. Your are delightful, amusing and entertaining for sure. Were your ancestors vikings or did the vikings invade your country? Have a very nice 2024! Giorgio 🙂

Your channel's style of humour and facts is just the best. We have learned so much from your videos preparing for our upcoming December trip. The timing for this video was perfect as we were just wondering about the hot springs options besides the blue lagoon. Perfect timing. Looking forward to the food and drink tour!

I’m assuming this was filmed a number of weeks ago! I would love to visit some of the less well known pools but I travel on my own & don’t drive 😢 so my choice would be Sky Lagoon. But I’m thinking it would be a tad more popular at this time …….. Still I’ll be there in 8 weeks for my second visit & can’t wait 😁

Hey! Yes, correct, The clips are from different seasons, this video took forever to make hahaha! I'm glad it was useful. You're going to love Sky Lagoon! It won't be as empty as in the clips from the video, it'll have some people there but It's never bothered me and I've always really enjoyed it!

My husband and I are coming to Iceland in late October/early November. Because of the temperature that time of year, should we even consider swimming in a hot spring/lagoon? Thank you
@WakeUpReykjavik.6 ай бұрын
Definetly! The lagoons are warm all year round since the geothermal heat is warm all year round, but it might be smart to stick to lagoons with facilities since hiking in those months can be more challenging ☺️

I think i becoming icelandic... they look good but i prefer the local pool... cheap, next to home and same result... I recomend to the turist also the local pools, people dont go there to swim but to relax in the hot tub
@heimirhkarlsson10 ай бұрын
And try different local pools. They are quite different. Even at different time of the day. Just one very important rule, follow the shower instructions ! If only 10 % of all the tourist who visit iceland every year, enter hot tubs and swimming pools, without following icelandic shower rules, the pools become dangerous unhealthy.

A note, if you are planning on visiting one of the natural hotsprings that are free. Bring a trash bag with you. There is no one there to clean after you and some visitors just leave trash here and there.

Hi. Cheers. I'm from America. I was wondering if you would be willing to do a video showing the temperatures of some of these hot springs. I feel like a lot of people would be wondering many of the same things in wondering about. I bet you could make a vid, answering common questions many of us have, but we don't think to ask anyone. I bet a vid about temperatures, would g t a lot of views. I'll ask a few questions and make a few statements, to express my curiosity. Hopefully this will help, if you decide to make a video about hot spring temps in Iceland. Also, maybe people in Iceland, feel they could guess the answers to these questions, yet maybe no one knows for sure, so I bet even those in Iceland, would be interested in a vid in temps. What is the difference in water temps day vs night. Also, is the temp warmer or colder at sunrise, an hour or two before or after sunrise and sunset and also the sunset time. Mid day times. Basically temps every hour for 24 hours would be an interesting bit of info. Also, is it colder an hour after sundown. What about the midnight temp. Does it get colder every hour until sunrise. Is it colder at 2 am or 4 am vs midnight. Here is an odd questions, does it get warmer at night. Maybe the springs becomes hotter at a certain time of day. Is the temp consistent all 4 seasons? Can anyone check the temps every hour for 24 hours 4 times a year in the winter solstice, summer solstice, spring equinox and verbal equinox. How much variation is there, in temp, in one pool. What is the temp close to the spring source vs further away. Maybe test the water in one side, the opposite side and the middle. Are there colder and hotter sections? Does the temp vary everywhere? What is the air temp an inch or foot above the center of the pool. What is the air temp at the edge of the pool. What is the air temp 10 feet or 100 feet or a mile away from the pools. What is the air temp during the 4 seasons vs the water temp. Does the water temps stay consistent while the air temp fluctuates? Are there any noxious gasses that come off the water or into the air near the springs. Do the hot springs stay warm without giving off gasses. What is in the water, what minerals and other substances. When the sun is low or gone in the winter, does that affect water temp. Etc. questions like that. I have heard that some springs can get hotter at night which is hard to comprehend how that could happen. Also, I've heard some people say hot springs have hot sports and cool zones. Also some people say the minerals are too much and bad for you vs some people say it's good for health and detoxing. Also, how hot is the sun there and can you get sun burns.

I’ll be traveling with young kids and heard it’s expected to shower naked in a group shower before swimming at the secret lagoon. Is this true?
@heimirhkarlsson10 ай бұрын
I´m not sure what you mean by group shower. Rules of shower in icelandic public swimming pool are, everyone is supposed to take proper shower, without swimming clothes, before entering the pool or tub. Those who have special needs, not being able to take shower naked in public shower, there are some shower with curtain or closed doors. We icelanders try to please everybody, so they can follow our rules. Shower and dressing room in icelandic public swimming pools, are divided by gender. Simple rule, male in one, female in another. Children under the age of elementary school can follow their parents, regarless of gender. Water in all icelandic public swimming pools are sirculation water, heavily filtered and measuerd on regular basis, to keep the quality of the water, as celan and healthy as possible. I don´t know, how or if, they cleanthe Blue Lagoon and I don´t want to know. I wouldn´t enter there, even if they paid me for it. We have one swimming pool, or gigantic hot tub, who is not sicrculated water, but continously runnning true natrula hot water from a geyser. Tha pool is in the Vestfjorsd of Iceland. One can even see the geyser beside the pool. More about tkaing shoer, before entering the pool. Icelandic public swimming pools in Reykjavík city gets more than 2 millions visit ecah year, imagine, how the water would look and feel, if majority of vistor did not take proper shower ? I was by the Secret Lagoon few year ago, did not enter, was just passing by and it was closed.Must be gender divided dressing and shower room there, as in every public swimming pool.

Unfortunately due to Tourists who don't know how to behave, a lot of the natural springs has been closed. Tourists scatter their trash around the sites, and most of these sites are privately owned... not state. A few other places are charging now for access.
