Photo contests and social media have made nature photography another competitive sport and I am of the opinion photo contests should anonymise the winners and only exhibit the winning images. That may limit the madness for name and fame a tad bit at least! Keeping the need for these contests aside, whatever you have said here makes perfect sense.

@@robovana thank you. happy some of this resonated with you. I agree with you on contests and social media taking photography to a level of competitive sport - something I didn't enjoy at all. Took me some realisation along the lines of photography being a way for me to express my fondness for nature, and putting that ahead of the demands of social media, or contests, helped me enjoy nature photography again.
