Great video guys. You are very right. I always set a budget and split it up for however many days I’m there. The one time I actually lost a whole day’s budget, I wasn’t super excited to keep gambling, though. Gambling is one of the few instances where being a sore loser and not wanting to play anymore is a good thing.

Agree with you. I've worked in the casino industry for 7 years and also been a casual gambler for 20 years. I tell my friends who want to gamble that the moment you step into the casino, it's psychological warfare. Some casinos utilize certain colors for the carpets and designs around the buildings. Certain colors also play a factor in your gambling behavior. And this is how lights also affect you as well. Additionally, the casino I worked at also utilized music. They preferred music to hype you up, or certain faster bpm music. Because it has been shown gamblers typically gamble faster with music. And casinos want to win your money as fast as possible. Some may also use shady practices by hiring "hype men or women" to hype people up in tables. It gets players hyped up and more comfortable while gambling. Many gamblers think that these people are just fellow gamblers, but they're not. Also people think BJ has very good odds. Well, BJ used to have decent odds. Now casinos have so many rules that the odds are getting more and more stacked against the player. For instance, using the hit-chart and card counting should give you better odds, but the casinos deter this by mainly using 8 decks or more. A majority of the tables for a lot of casinos use machine fed decks that use 6 or more decks. My casino used 13 decks. There are casinos that use double deck, and even more rarely, the single deck. But they throw off your count by cutting a 3rd of the deck out. And they use strict betting rules. So if you been betting 25 for awhile, you're not allowed to suddenly bet 100s. But overall, every casino has different rules to stack the odds against you. It's up to the player to find the casino that has the least amount of rules with the least amount of decks to stack their odds. Also one of the traps many table games use are the bonuses. Never play bonuses. It's a lose-lose in the long run. I've seen so many people just chase the bonus because they think that's the fastest way to make money. That couldn't be farther from the truth. The bonus rarely comes out, and by the time someone hits it, they lost more than they have gained. Also people believe that baccarat has very good odds. It does, but the rules some casinos use kind of ruins it. For instance, the banker side has a slightly higher odds of winning than the player side. So if a person bets on banker and wins, they have to pay a small portion to the house. Whereas, there is no tax to bet on player. This is why playing baccarat away from the strip is superior because they don't have those silly rules. Baccarat also has a lot of bonuses such as tie, panda, and dragon. I'll say on average there is about 1-2 dragons per shoe. But don't be surprised when 0 dragons appear. It's just not worth it to play. It's like hitting the mini lottery. And I'm not even going to get into 3-card or UTH. The odds on those are just horrendous because the amount of bets and bonuses they have. Overall, don't gamble to make money, gamble for fun. Don't drink. Set a limit and have a solid betting/playing structure. And just have fun. In my years of working in the casino I've seen people crying in the parking lots because they lost their rent money. I've seen couples fight. I've heard of regulars that committed suicide. I've seen people sell their cars to gamble. I've seen people go homeless because they're addicted. I just couldn't take it anymore because it's so damn sad. You realize how dark it is. I've seen the most nicest person or couple go berserk out of nowhere. I just got sick of taking people's money so I eventually left the casino industry. The casino is where your inner demons come out.

There is help out there for gambling addicts. Gamblers Anonymous and outpatient counseling/treatment programs are available throughout the US, especially in metro areas. There are a handful of 30-day inpatient treatment facilities specifically for gambling addicts. I am only familiar with the one in Granite Falls, Minnesota called Vanguard Center for Gambling Recovery which is part of Project Turnabout. Anyway, if people are ready to look for a way out, there are places to turn.
@blowfish8203
@blowfish8203 Жыл бұрын
@@MarthaDecker1 True. There is a requirement in my county/state to have Gambling Anonymous type brochures in the casino. Problem is, gamblers don't want help. They just want to gamble. I'll say it's a very small percentage of gamblers that actually seek out help.

WE JUST WENT FOR MOST LIKELY THE LAST TIME. IT'S GOTTEN SUPER EXPENSIVE AND THAT RUINS THE FUN FOR US. WE HAVE GONE ON AND OFF FOR YEARS BECAUSE IT WAS CHEAP AND FUN. Casinos have no trouble bringing in gamblers. There is literally no reason for a 'hype' person.
@blowfish8203
@blowfish8203 Жыл бұрын
@@minecraftbuilder3110 I agree with you for the most part. But it would be inaccurate to say casinos have no trouble bringing in gamblers. For instance there are a few casinos in California that have shut down or are very slow. I forgot what they're called, but they're something like paid players. They get paid to play. I'm not sure if they still have them, but about 10 years ago I remember some casinos in California hiring for these positions. They typically go onto slower tables and play casually and make other players feel comfortable. They also do small talk here and there. If you work in the casino long enough, you know who these "players" are. The problem is these players often get hooked into gambling and start using up their own money. And I wouldn't be surprised if other states utilized similar positions.

I had to stop and pause the video 55 seconds in to laugh at the fact that you acknowledged the smell coming from Excalibur 😂😂😂. All of these are great tips and I found myself nodding my head in agreement to all of them especially the first four because I've been lured in to casinos in Vegas and other places by the scent in the air and have gambled way more than I should've and stayed way longer (like an entire workshift) in a casino. Great tips and I know others will benefit from this video.

Hi Tanya and Dave; fantastic reminders! The other thing that I have noticed over the several years of going to Vegas is the hotels want more of your money and they give you LESS of their time. So now the basic check in is 3:00pm - 4:00pm and basic check out is 11:00am! So I always advise: 1. Take advantage of your Membership with the resorts to enjoy the hotel with an early check in at no fee to you if you are a higher Membership level, and 2. Arrive earlier than the standard check in time if you can get an earlier check in at no additional cost. Maximize your time by being able to spend more TIME for your money. Have a great week! CAB😊

A check in at 3-4pm and a check-out at 11am is pretty normal everywhere I’ve been, Vegas or otherwise. What is fairly new is having to pay for early check-in; you’ve always been charged for a late checkout, often another day’s stay.

Great video! If you keep your gambling under control, then the money you lose is simply an entertainment expense. I bring whatever money I will gamble with me from home, and will not ever visit a ATM in Vegas. I set aside any of my winnings, so I usually come back with 1/3 or 1/2 of my money I brought. It's very tempting to gamble with your "house money," don't do it and you won't come home broke.

I go in with 2 rolls of quarters (back in the coin drop days) and one stays in my pocket. I load up the machine with however many lines I’m playing and then I look for the highest low paying amount…if I win anything below that amount, it stays in the tray to play with. If I win that amount or more it goes in one of the buckets. I play with houses money until I run out of the tray or the rest of the roll of quarters…never taking from the bucket. When I leave it’s usually with more than I started with. It’s worked well for me, I hate the ticket machines. 😞 And I’ll never use my atm card for money.

Don't like to drink. Two glasses of wine a day tops. Anything else you could get sick. Yes, trip to the Cashier's Cage before leaving. Slot machines are easily the biggest money maker in the casino. They require no employees to man them unlike table games. Roulette, the worst game in the casino for a player.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE TRUTH WITH YOUR VIEWERS . . . IT’S GREAT ADVICE TO WARN THEM ABOUT THE REALITY OF LAS VEGAS CASINOS--GAMBLING DEFIES LOGIC AND I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE DESIRE? We just stayed at the Aria this last weekend (first weekend in May). We had pre-paid for our room before we went (December of 2022). When we checked in we had to pay a "resort" fee of around $50.00/day. We were also charged $250.00/day as a security deposit. We were told that we would get the $500.00 security deposit back as long as there was no damage to the hotwl room. That security deposit fee is required for EVERY DAY you stay there. So, automatically, we were out $600.00. Las Vegas is no longer inexpensive and that puts a damper on having any "fun." We are NOT gamblers anyway. What a RIP OFF & NOT WORTH IT! The "strip" also seems to be disappearing with hugw hotel's creating large mazes and no sidewalks really.

If I'm gambling, then I really don't care what time it is since I'm (hopefully) enjoying myself. And I'm glad there are a lot of security cameras around. Who wouldn't be unless you have some bad intentions. I've never had a problem finding a bathroom in any casino I've ever been in. Lots of signs around.

I've lost track of the amount of money I've donated to Vegas, but in the process, you'll definitely get a host and if they are worth their salt, they will make sure you have a great time losing all your money. In my younger days, I've had hosts hook up hookers sent to your room on the house. Now I'm satisfied with a suite and great meals comped all trip. That's enough to satisfy the wife.

I once saw a TV show that took apart machines to see how they worked. One day the took apart a SLOT MACHINE and discovered that it was RIGGED to NEVER hit the jackpot. Selected machines are placed within the casino that pay out - but the VAST MAJORITY are DISABLED from ever paying out $1,000 or more. I tested this out several times. You need to note which machines pay out to players. then, play that exact machine several hours later, or, the next day. By doing this I won $1,000 within 5-10 minutes. You must first WATCH to see someone win big. Casinos will rotate winning machines so locals don't play the system.
