Canadian Civil Defense animation film. Just like Protection In The Nuclear Age (1978/1980 USA). Protect And Survive (1970s UK).

The thing I find interesting about this film compared to others is that it makes note of how fallout protection is quite possible as a direct attack on Canada feels less likely but the fallout spreading from an attack on the United States would present a danger. That and the book itself notes how a lot of these survival steps can also be used in peacetime disasters such as earthquakes and blizzards. 2:26 One more thing, I recognize that stock explosion effect as it was also used in the intro to MechWarrior 3.

I think the US version of this video was hamstrung by the government's determined (and impractical) push for evacuation over proper shelters. Although the weirdest parts of the American version are definitely the expedient shelters.... eg digging under the footing of your house. Canada's has definitely stood the test of time.

Geez....the Canadian nuclear war preparedness video is way better than the USA one produced by FEMA, also it looks like they used the same animator....thank God, his son Christ, all the archangels, the saints, in heaven for KZbin

FEMA clearly half assed their version. Emergency Planning Canada and the NFB are credited in the US version.

I wonder if the battery powered radio tip would even be a good tip now? With EMPs and such?
@HexagonalMan68 ай бұрын
Small electronics devices not plugged into the greater grid are less likely to be permanently damaged by an EMP.
@RT-qd8yl2 ай бұрын
@@HexagonalMan6 Also a radio kept specifically for this purpose can be stored inside an EMP shielded case until needed.
