These are the kind of black women I have to show my latino daughters. Black women that are not what the media portrays. Organized , high value, high achieving women. I do t like that they think that black girls and black women are not home owners, that they drop out and think of sex all day, that they like hood this dudes and that they don't value their life snd respect Themselves. I'm sorry that my daughters peers say otherwise. But I know it's not true. My 14 year old said something to the effect that white girls will be home owners but that she'll struggle like the black girls and live in an apartment or low income housing. I s said excuse me...! No. Most of the homeowners that I personally know of, are black families..sorry.... I love in vallejo ca. That's what I see. Black home owners and more and more Mexican homeowners..so not just white people own homes I have alot of work to do with teaching my 2 daughters.

I have SO many comments because I just started the NP program at Emory on the PNP Primary Care track (after doing the MN program), and I relate to all of this 😂 especially that Atlanta traffic. Loved this video!! I’m about to binge all of the rest to see if you tell me how to survive Advanced Pathophys 😂

Congrats on getting accepted into the PNP program! That’s a huge accomplishment. Sadly, I started this channel after I took Patho lol. You can def DM me on IG if you have any questions though. You’ll do great!!! 😊💪🏾

How is the program going at Emory?
@adegbolaoluwawamiri302711 ай бұрын
Nice to see someone in Emory, thinking of applying, how is the program going, i read it is a hybrid programme and they provide preceptors. How true is this. I'm particular about it because i have always had my reservations about purely online program. I will appreciate your honest response.

Wow thank you for being so detailed because when people were saying they had to take patho, I was like I took that in nursing already so I thought maybe I would skip that . Very detailed thank you .

Could you please list the 11 things you wish you knew.
@NandiR. Жыл бұрын
School category: 1. Expect your classes in your Master’s to consist of BOTH core classes (eg. advanced patho, pharm) and classes specific to your speciality (eg. pediatrics) 2. Less breaks in school (due to Covid and/or being in an accelerated program) 3. Be aware of the grades necessary to pass certain classes (eg. at my school we needed a 83 or above to pass majority of classes) 4. Be aware of how your classes will be administered (eg. online vs. in person) 5. I wish I knew I would have to attend clinicals and classes at the same time throughout the semester. They were not separated in my program so we attended both each week. 6. Be aware of your school’s travel requirements for clinical (my school policy was they could place you up to 100-150 miles from the school of nursing) 7. Be aware of the number of clinical hours you are required to obtain per semester (it varied at my school per semester and per speciality) Life category: 8. Believe in yourself ❤, believe in what you know, and what you’ve been taught 9. It is important to give yourself grace and be kind to yourself with your actions AND words 10. You can’t vent to everybody (know who you can and cannot go to when you’re feeling vulnerable and/or need to talk) 11. Make sure you have various outlets (eg. a physical outlet, mental outlet, creative outlet)

Lol whew, you have to be on it with those preceptors. And, thank you for watching!

Pop quizzes are not considered trauma informed teaching. Bad practice. Seriously, I’d let your school know.

Your videos are always so informative. Keep putting out great content. Any suggestions on how to make better connections with your cohort? I’m finding networking in my hydrid program difficult.

Thank you so much! 🥰 Some things we did in my program: we had a groupme chat for all the students in my speciality, even though we were hybrid, we had student reps/officers who we went to and planned events for us, also study groups (even if done virtually - like a group of 3 would be a perfect way to bond and review material). It can be very challenging, but I hope some of these tips help!

Would you say the program is more difficult than nursing school?
@NandiR.2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily! I think they are both challenging but for different reasons. If you can survive getting your BSN, you can def survive getting your Master’s!

Thabkd for this video. It is very informative. Do you take tests like you do in undergrad or is it more writing papers (research) based?

You're welcome! Mostly, A LOT of tests and quizzes.

Do is this and rn to np program? Because you keep referencing the BSN as part of this. .. I was thinking of doing a program like that where I get my BSN rolled in on the way to msn Ps I was watching this by my bay niece and she broke her neck trying to see what you were talking about. Idk maybe she likes your voice
