I’m a LPN. Desensitizing myself when someone deceases I can’t. Poor training, poor management, bullies, etc. I’m praying that I get accepted in dental school. I want out of nursing.

I’m in school for NP, I’ve been a RN for 10 years and I’ve been past my breaking point but I know I really don’t want to be a NP but I realized I need to finish because I want to open an aesthetic clinic . I can say that I definitely suffered from imposter syndrome in clinicals and watching my preceptor have to defend her education and competence .

I appreciate you making this video so much. I'm a PA-C, but our roles in healthcare are very similar and I have encountered many of the problems you listed including 'growing thick skin', 'commanding a room' , 'dealing with stress and anxiety'. These are elements of the job that you have to learn to cope with as you go, even if you don't see your strengths just yet, you absolutely have them. Feedback from trusted coworkers is my go-to, especially attendings I work alongside often. I'm inpatient setting but I absolutely feel like you nailed highlighting the difficulties of being a practitioner. You too will grow into this profession and overcome hardships. Wishing for your best success/blessings in this field. We got this! 😊🙌🏾

Bringing work home I know is very common in family practice/primary care from my understanding. I have worked inpatient endocrinology in which that was not the case at all. I now work outpatient Gynecology/Women's Health and VERY RARELY have to take work home. I think all of these things are dependent on the specialty you work in. I have an amazing situation and manageable patient load. There is so much more out there as a APRN for quality of life.

Within my group of friends who are all nurses, I am the only one who didn’t go for a NP. Now, after 5 years, they want to bail and get out of nursing all together. I left nursing totally, and went back to school for education and spent 15 years teaching. Better hours, lower pay, but I did like having holidays and weekends off.

So sorry to hear you guys complain deeply of failing the exam. But I will assure you that NP exam won't be a problem to you anymore,if you work with someone like Mr Andrew . he help me through my exam and I made it through.

yes, it is a crazy test for sure. I also used Mr Andrew review material's, and I studied for 1 week and my test shut off at 85 questions. I cried too when I got my results. PASS

Thank you for this video!! my professor said that physicians won’t respect us especially if we aren’t using medical jargon. So to get in the habit of using medical terminology. Is there anything you do or would recommend to stay on top of your medical knowledge and feeling confident when communicating with physicians?❤

Thanks for watching love! To answer your question - to be honest, I feel like practice makes perfect. The more you do both of those things, the more comfortable and confident you will get. All facts‼️ so far all I can say is going back to school for my NP was a waste of time with this saturated job market and crappy jobs that are available. Are you in family medicine?

The biggest con for me is the disrespect from physicians that don’t know our scope of practice and think we’re “trying to be doctors” or get up in arms when they learn we can pretty much do what they do. I don’t know if there’s an influx of NPs that didn’t work as an RN very long before getting their NP or what, but doctors act as if we have no experience. Everytime there’s a patient who tells a story of A provider mistake they experienced, they assume an NP did it and when they hear it was a physician all of sudden, they have some crazy rationale as to why or how the mistake is understandable. Let it have actually been an NP, it would be due to us being inadequate providers, lack of Schooling compared to MDs, etc. I was a nurse 15 years before going for my NP so it strikes a nerve when they want to have ego wars over “who’s the expert?” I’m simply tired of hearing these attitudes about NPs. I’ve seen MDs respect their MAs more than NPs. It’s absurd.

Well you can’t be the expert in IM as a np. The expert is the internist who went to medical school and completed an IM residency. You don’t have to be an expert to be knowledgeable.

@@TheWatcherOS going to med school is not accessible to many. The required research, clinical, and shadowing hours required in itself is absurd, and not possible if you need a job. Especially for individuals with families and/or bills to pay. Along with the extra 2 years of schooling. 8 years of full time school (no time for a job) is incredibly unrealistic for most adults. That is on top of 200-500k in student loan debt. Most people who go to med school come from wealthy families. It’s sad, but true. You have to be very privileged to have the opportunity to go to med school. Yes, there are the outliers, but they are far and few between. For many who have the passion to become a provider, but don’t have the resources for medical school, PA or NP school is a much better option.

@@NapiercierraThe MD program at International University of Health Science is 80K or less and you don't have to leave where you live to study. If a person really wants it bad enough they'll find a way✌🏽

As physicians, we can tell which NPs have a ton of clinical experience under their belt vs. those who did 1 clinical year and then fast-tracked through an online program. It's a very obvious difference. If you have experience, let it be known.

I worked (RN) in a medical specialty and I loved it, however, I sometimes didn’t get out of the clinic until 6:30 p.m. and they had nobody to cover me for PTO. 😡 I decided to go back to urgent care. We staff multiple MAs, LPNs and RNs and we can trade shifts and pick up shifts whenever available. 😊

My MD was in the office with me my first day. I just had my own schedule of patients that day to see , on my own. And, she also had her own scheduled patients to see that day. Hope this makes sense!

Healthcare is not for the weak! I tell people this all the time, you have to be confrontational! Patients lie to get what they want! In America, patients feel like since they’ve paid a copay/coinsurance, they should get whatever they want! You want to take care of your patients but keep in mind that you can easily harm them also! Patients don’t want to wait their turn and everyone thinks they’re more important! Crazy thing is you don’t ever go into a Retail Store, Club, Theme Park, Restaurant and ask how long the wait is! Lastly, we’re never told what we do right but what we do wrong!
