Lived in chuco town for twenty something years and it is ours. It’s big and trafficky yet we don’t mind. It’s proud and somewhat graphically segregated but not in a bad way. It literally means “the pass,” as it meant that travelers would just go on their merry way to Cali or Eastern Texas and vice a versa, and we feel ok with that. It’s safe, secluded and quite different to most US cities. Not much to do here and our cultural statistics are probably not quite up to standard but, our town possesses charisma and personality unmatched by few.

I'm so happy you made it to my stomping grounds (although I'm not from there). If there was one place you could have save your time was “chicos tacos” 🤢🤮. Theres also great hiking out there through trans-mountain. Also, in las cruces you have NMSU (Go Aggies!), billy the kid as you saw in messilla, and the San Felipe church, I think that's the name.

You are obviously NOT from El Paso. I grew up there and Chico's is the first thing any expat wants to eat first. I've been gone for 25 years and go there every chance I get when I visit.

@@jeffsullivan3101 Not necessarily born there, but enough to know the area quite well. Did try this contraption, but you can't change my mind since that incident. I'll spare anyone if I can. Expat in a sense too, away from EP about 20 yrs. Every opportunity I can get coming home is straight to tacos Al pastor, in which in north Cal (sac area), they suck!!! Al pastor over chicos, anytime, anywhere. ✌️

@@pedrouscanga7794 Ok I will admit it is not the greatest cuisine but for a High School kid in the early eighties it was cheap and that's where all the girls went for lunch. Guess I still like it for nostalgia reasons. A&W was better but it went out of business when I was a Junior in '81.

The thing about Chicos Toacos is people ether LOVE it or HATE it. Very polarized.

Sadly the tram has been closed for about 3 years now. State funding is required to get it to the point where it would reopen, so who knows if that will happen (the tram hit its age limit for public safety)

Thanks for this video! Also, Rio Bosque Wetlands, Chihuahuas Stadium, Holocaust Museum, the trolleys, the Star on the Mountain, what my husband calls the “egg beaters” on the I-10 by Airway, Transmountain Lookout, TONS of hiking trails, the Isleta Museum, and the history of Santa Teresa. She was a curandera who traveled to and from Mexico to heal people. People from around who were sick would travel to come see her. Her house is in downtown, and there’s a plaque mounted outside for you to read. Santa Teresa, NM was named after her.

I did not know about Santa Teresa. Thank you for posting this.

"Rio Bosque Wetlands", you mean the undeveloped area next to the sewage plant? You can't be serious.

When focusing on the downtown Art Museum enter the building and show some of the art collection. There is another art museum on Montana Avenue not that far from downtown.

I would suggest visiting austin texas. it was the 2nd biggest indoor waterpark in america, the texas capitol)its bigger than the washington dc capitol), great museum, amazing downtown, barton springs, and so many more things such as hiking, kayaking, cool restaurants, and beautiful nature and landscape.

I'd like to see you travel, interstate 10, all the stores, ceilo vista mall, restaurants.. Then take a good slow drive thru , McKellegon canyon. Most people, don't see the "window" An lastly east to west, over the Franklin mountain. If you have time ? The houses built on the cliffs, overlooking the West side.. Or Ascarate lake & park ❤

I live a few hours West of EP . When we go over there; we eat at a Italian restaurant on Airway!!! I forgot the name of it 😱.
