Lol I'm one of those nurses that would have called the doctor on the example question. I think of it as adverse vs. expected findings of the medication administration. To me, it doesn't seem like enough trend or information is given to stop the infusion. A 40mL drop in urine output compared to increasing premature contractions by way of stopping the infusion seems like you'd do more harm than good. I'd keep the infusion running and call the doctor. I don't understand how you could argue the Kidney's are struggling. You've witnessed an expected side effect that's no where close to critical level.
