@@lsmith6378 well yes, almost everything is cheaper than from where you are, so if you have lots of money you could live like a king here. But if your level of consciousness about your money is that, filipinos well be running after you or scam you for your money.. yeah that was happening years ago when we still had corrupt governments, specifically after the Marcos era, right to before the Duterte administration. Mostly those people in government did not respect and didn't care for people living in poverty, which in turn those people didn't also think of caring and respecting people, and some even had criminal minds. Lol. But Presently filipinos in general is back to being loving, caring, friendly and generous. We want guests and foreigners to be happy in our country.

I am a Filipina who migrated to the UK in middle age, and when I started living here I was so disheartened by the fact that you cannot just walk in a dentist’s clinic and have emergency tooth treatment. You needed to book and you can of course go private but it will cost you an arm and a leg. I needed a specialised root canal and it cost us 600 pounds! So whenever I go back to visit, I have all dental, eye and cosmetic treatments like facials, massages etc. which are pricey in the UK. Other than that I love the UK. I have dual citizenship. Thanks and more power. Will follow your vlog. Watching fr Hoddesdon, England.

The downside is (from my observation), drivers from the Philippines are normally not used to following the rules of the road. It's more of, "whatever goes". That's why EDSA is like a battlefield. This poses a problem when everyone else around you expects you to behave a certain way on the road--like following your own lane or not changing lanes at an intersection.
@EdgarTeoxon4 жыл бұрын
I'm a Filipino, but for me, nothing beats Mumbai and Delhi (and Bangalore, while we're at it). We Filipinos use our side mirrors and not take over lanes if we see that we won't fit. I've worked & lived in UK (Coventry, West Midlands). Mostly spot-on on what these 2 said in this episode. Here are other things that are quite unique in UK: 1. Higher tax (salary-based). Other taxes such as TV tax, Road tax, & Council tax. 2. Free medical (unless you want private hospital, and if you are a tourist). 3. Disciplined drivers and their transport system is very good, but less public vehicles during Sundays & holidays. 4. Expensive car park fee. 5. Roundabouts (Rotunda in the Phils.) which can be confusing at first. 6. Beaches are cold (even during summer). 7. Malls close early specially in small cities/towns. 8. Brits' love of Fish & Chips, Football (soccer), tea, reality TV. 9. Brits call lunch "dinner" and dinner "tea" or supper. 10. They love asking "Are you alright?" no matter how many times you've bumped into each other in workplaces. 11. Different spellings of certain words, like paedia/pedia, colour/color. Words like loo (CR/toilet), ages ago, cab (taxi), push bike (bicycle), cheers (thank you), and many others. 12. They tell times differently: quarter past 2 (2:15), half-past six/half-six (6:30). I might have forgotten something else, feel free to add. Cheers!!!

I was born in the Philippines but I live in Ontario, and I noticed the same thing that you guys did when it comes to store staff. Recently my family and I went back for vacation and as soon as I entered the SM department store to buy some clothes, I had about two or three of their workers come up and ask how they can help and what stuff I was looking for. One of them even walked with me throughout the whole store to help me locate each item. Needless to say, the shopping experience was smooth and the only trouble I had was choosing from the huge variety of styles. And I agree with you 100% about the size of the malls in the Philippines, they're huge! I swear you need like at least a full day or even more to fully get through all of MOA.

Thank you very much for all the positive views about my beloved country. I totally agree with your opinion. I now reside in the UK with my family. We are very fortunate to be UK citizens and there are things that you can’t compare a first world country to a developing country such as education, healthcare system, infrastructure, public transport, pollution, environment, political system , quality of life, etc. You are absolutely right when you mentioned about the warm and happy-go-lucky mentality of Filipinos. They are resilient because challenges and hardships in life are just part of their day to day existence. I love my home country hence I acquired dual citizenship. I invested organic farming in the Philippines to support employment and sustainable way of life. I intend to retire soon in both countries and explore tourism business to attract UK citizens to visit the Philippines and Filipinos to visit the UK. Good luck to you both and I wish you success. All the best!

Love this video. I’m Filipino and I totally agree with a lot of your points!!! My comments are more of just the reasoning of certain things you pointed out. 4:01 Thats because they work off commission. So if the sales person is able to get you to the checkout, they get paid for that commission sale. And they are trained to know things about the products to be able to work in that store. Sometimes when you are just window shopping, it can get annoying though. 5:13 The cost of living here is much cheaper of course than UK so the cost of entertainment here is too. Also movie watching is always a thing here especially in the city. The cost of movies actually went up a lot already. Tickets used to only cost P200-250 a ticket before but now it can range from P300-500+ depending what mall you’re in and if you do the fancy Lazy Boy theater. 7:22 This is funny just because it applies to you guys because you are foreigners and clearly (sorry for labelling) white. But Filipinos don’t talk to other Filipinos randomly. LOL! That is SUPER WEIRD especially in the city. Although we are very hospitable and welcoming to foreigners though. I don’t know if it’s a colonial mentality thing but we just are. 9:03 The reason we have cash on delivery as well is because some Filipinos don’t even have a credit card. Some don’t even have bank account believe it or not. So cash is still a very relevant thing we still use compared to other countries. 10:00 OMG! How? Hahaha. I never got my license cuz I never want to drive in the Philippines especially Manila. Traffic is just horrible. It takes me 2 hours to get to BGC from Manila (border Quezon City). The rules are not as strict but that’s why there are lots of bad drivers here. LOL! 13:28 Yes there is going to be an IKEA here. The opening date was supposed to be 2020 but with the whole pandemic, we’ll see. 13:47 OMG!! We have sooo many malls! and big ones too! 15:53 Probably only on really high mountain tops/peaks. The coldest the Philippines ever reached was around 6-7 degrees celsius Great video! Sorry my comments were so long. LOL!!

In my province we treat non-residents as foreigners. :-)
@emmaanna924 жыл бұрын
@@avivbenavi That's nice. People in your province are probably friendlier. LOL! Technically they are still foreigners because they still hold a foreign passport. But also I'm talking more ethnicity-wise. Because it's very evident the aren't from here, people are more welcoming because we want them to enjoy our country. 😄 HOSPITABLE FILIPINOS FTW! My mom is Malaysian and still holds her Malaysian passport but is a permanent resident for 30+ years already. People don't treat her differently from other Filipinos because we look similar as Southeast Asians. But that's just my observation.😊
@avivbenavi4 жыл бұрын
@@emmaanna92 Point taken. Understood. (By the way what I meant by non-residents are non-residents of our town/province. They're still from the Philippines.) I think it has something to do with unfamiliarity or with the effort the other people exerted to visit our not-so important town. So people from Manila or people from the next province or people from 2 hours away are shown hospitality.
@emmaanna924 жыл бұрын
@@avivbenavi Oh! I see. That's so nice though! I feel talaga yun mga taga-province peeps are really friendlier than people in the big cities.

When I was in London last December people there are friendly, someone even explained to us how to use the tube since we got in to an incorrect one.
@pashonfroot4 жыл бұрын
People are friendly, yes. Those rushing to get a tube train would even stop by to help me with my suitcase, etc. I think what they meant was that here, people just do their thing. When you enter a shop, some staff may greet you but will leave you to browse while they carry on with their job. In the Phils, you have staff that are doing the job that needs to be done, then you have people who will follow you around to make sure there’s someone there to help you. When you’re walking around in the UK, some people think it’s weird if you smile at them and they don’t know you. In the Phils, people will smile at you or even go the extra mile to say hi or something.
