If someone is better than you at art styling or animating, it doesn’t mean they are gonna work well with others If they don’t work well with others but you do, expect to get the job. although my parents are also asian, they don't do these shirs. Let me tell how my story has been going My parents(they're asians too) never force me like that because it'd be stupid and not even have any benefits. Thanks to them, if they'd always been torturing me like those, i think i wouldn't be allowed to use internet for studying. Here, let me prove why learning freely is better than being pushed for something you don't like. i remember being bad at math, i started getting better at it when i was 6th grade(yeah i'd always hated math back then) but it was because we were always given an easy questions. When i got into 7th grades, there was my biggest failure at math, it showed me how bad i was. At semester 2, i decided to start studying through internet and youtube. There, i became happy so much, couldn't relate anymore tbh, everything is easy to learn, study, and made me more interested to learn more even when there was no test currently. As i was studying more, i even wanted to study about high school math such as calculus, logarithm, etc. Everytime math test comes, i don't study, even when my parents know, they don't even care, especially my father, he doesn't care cuz he's funny af and doesn't give any fucks, my mother? She's just quiet and doesn't give any fucks too, she just reminds about the time but smoothly not like those. Still, i get the highest good score though i'm not the highest rank cuz there are some subjects i'm bad at, those are mandarin(chinese language, i used to be good at it) and drawings(i would've passed if i hadn't spent my time in class just for playing, but who cares? That isn't even part of my school's report, it is just mentioned but unnecerssary). Once again, i'm glad i must not go through like that kid(tbh i feel bad for him, i assume his mom has never been good at somethn 😂), also, that's why i've always been able to learn in smartphones(which asian parents don't wanna see their kids to lift it) Yet, because of internet, i've mastered some programming languages. if some people keep thinking forcing is good, i'll feel bad your future kids, may they not deserve any kind of force from you. I just wanna tell that, forcing is some kind of old idiot thing, AND EVEN FORCING YOU FOR SOMETHING YOU DON'T KNOW! His father is right, as he already said, "making fishes climb a tree just makes them torture, that's why they live in the water". Her mom is just too old minded, this is what i COMPLETELY HATE, she even keeps pushing him just for something they're not interested at. I don't even think she was ever good when she was still in school and university 😂😂. again, when you become parents and do this, YOU'VE GONE FOR SO LONG.

However, it's high-risk path because you need to speculate what middle, upper-middle, and upper class wants in 10 years from now. If their family doesn't approve this, well, child can't get to anywhere. Study hard and doing great in school is the only option wether the education system broken or not.

"Grades are your future, they are important to your future." Sure, you take this genius and put him into a box, suck the passion out of him, make him distrust his family, take away a competitive advantage for him in robotics, all for what? A number on a paper? What's the point of getting a high score for your future if your future is going to be miserable? Isn't his health more important for the future anyway? EDIT: This comment section is the written equivalent of a verbal beatdown. We get it, grades don't matter except for when they do. Please remain civil. Thanks, and keep up the good fight as we prove that grades are really worth nothing! 2ND EDIT: I stopped reading these a long time ago, but recently, somebody brought up a point that I rather agree with. Not to mention, enough time has passed and I've experienced enough to safely conclude that grades aren't meaningless. Nonetheless, they are not the be-all-end-all, for a fully intelligent person is still only half a person should they be deprived of any emotional capacity, health or passion to use said intellect. That's why I don't really agree with the comment about "high school is just there for you to pass" - key example being, say, art class, where reflections are what actually gather marks because it's high school. But nobody goes to art class to write artist statements, they go there to learn how to draw, as near-inconsequential to the mark as it may be. (I should know, I became a TA to a high school art teacher.) Again, reminder to keep it civil, geez.
