Where you have a front grapple, it's helpful when pulling large logs with your winch to grab a short, large diameter log for ballast. Definitely helps with steering and front-end traction in slippery conditions.

Nice, those logs are pretty hefty, your tractor and winch did well. High quality wood!

Good evening Sir, great dog shooting ( video !!! ) and tractor and winch operation !!! Yes in deed, deer are very curious creature !!! You should see them when you're cutting cedar tree in winter time !!!! LOL I think big wheel chains is in order for you, but you did manage very well without them !!! Keep warm Sir !!!

Nice video. I have ran 2 different Farmi winches. An older version on the 351 and a 501. Piece of advise. Once you get the logs winched to the tractor tuck you cable under the lower pulley then lock you drum. Pulling from the lower pulley will allow more weight to remain on the front of the tractor and should improve steering and pulling power. With it under the lower pulley you should be able to raise the winch all the way. Also you don't have to have the logs right tight on the winch. Also you don't have to have them snubbed tight to the winch. Leaving a little space so they are still off the ground when you raise the winch but not tight in will make for beter steering.

I think your right the snow has been a pain to work in and the next thing will be the mud. If I ever get some dry conditions I’ll really be able to get the work done.

If you are looking to thin out some of the larger maples, you might want to consider hiring a forester who can help you manage your timber stand and do a little bit of logging. Getting ready to do that on our property now as hard maple is in big demand.

Nice action. They are some massive trees to be moving. The winch wound in the huge logs with no sweat. Full-watch. 👍

Had the same issue with overweight logs. I drove forward then pulled the log and repeated the process, rather try and lift and drive it out. Especially in mud / slippery conditions and snow
