My favorite cam for youtube is the Sony a6400, its fantastic and is worth the money. For mics I use a lav or desktop mic, but for shotgun mics, rode pretty much has the best bang-for-buck.

Hi will a rode lite or comica lite microphone actually improve the sound volume as well as the sound quality or will the camera be limited on the sound front? The night vision is great for now but even with the microphone that comes with it the sound is poor. Great honest video 👍

Those mics will improve the sound. I just hope that the camera's audio bitrate can record the higher quality.

If you press the power button once, it turns it to night vision mode.

I just got the Sony a6400 and it is the best small camera. You can use it as a webcam and 1080p 120fps and 4K 30fps recording. Literally when I first started I wish i would have bought one instead of spending 700 on an ok camera.

I have this camcorder, its the non wifi 1080p 36. MP IR, it is a great little camera for light use, only two complaint i have is poor battery life esp in IR mode. i keep it connected to an external battery that makes it last much longer. The one thing I cant get around however is that its not compatible with chromebook computers. the CPU will not read the file (the video) and i cannot veiw or edit the footage. Is there anything I can do? maybe install an editing app that does recognize the files?

I have this camera too and final cut pro does read the footage but with the mic it is ok I guess. Compared to my canon SX160 its around 80% as good. But in order to do something with the footage you might have to use another PC or Mac instead of chromebook Pros: Nightvision Webcam ok lasting battery non retactable lens flip screen Cons: bad mic (the mic it came with is bad aswell so ima buy a new one) Video quality along with fps isn't as good as my canon on and off sounds being annoying slow start up
