Sold me on the overhead!! Took ME only 2 months shy of sixty THREE years!!🤣 No more extension cord draped all over everything! And no more having to coil it back up and stow it away! Now, just give the cord a little tug and up and away with no climbing over cords! Genius!

I’ve thought about getting one of these for years. I don’t know why I never pull the trigger. My mom bought is a retractable hose reel a couple weeks ago. Amaaaazing! 😂 Now I have to replace every hose with one. If you want to change your life even more Ed, you gotta get one.

Ed, I have one in my garage and two in my workshop… having them is convenient. But, not having to play switch ‘em with the cords is the real bonus. One of the worst shin skins I ever got was from climbing on a pile of boards to reach a wall plug behind it! Thanks buddy.

Not a dumb idea Ed. I had 2 and will have 2 in My new Shop. Tech tip.. when putting screws in a slotted opening try to put the Fasteners at the very end of the slot. You'll get more holding surface of said fastener.. Thanks. Mike M.

Good tip on the Philips head screws... being Canadian we tend to move to Robertson they tend not to strip out as easily as Philips but it could be that we're not using the right "TIP"

Great video, that should be handy. Could I suggest that you change from Phillips head screws to Robertson (square drive) screws, they do not cam out easily and (if needed) you can put much more torque on them, especially when driven by an impact driver.
@MyClutteredGarage Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm even a bigger fan of torx head screws. I've had several square head bits break, but never a torx.
@plainwornout39642 жыл бұрын
Great add on. Two things to add (from experience) If you are using a tool that draws alot of amps, pull the cord all the way out as it will build up heat being coiled up. Second thing is to not let it wind up too quick or you WILL get wacked in the marbles with that 3 plug pigtail. (Ouch). The instructions should mention the part about unrolling all the way to avoid heat.👍
@MyClutteredGarage2 жыл бұрын
Great points. Especially the second one! :)

I got one with a trouble light in the one side of my garage. I think I'll put one like yours on the other side. I believe the retractable extension cord would be much better than the trouble light. Thanks Ed.

There is something similar how fast people talk in the southern part of their state. I live in the friendly state of Mississippi and I run Ed's video on 1.5 x speed as I do with the videos from down here. They all sound perfect then. Ed, if I find a suitable sticker I will mail it to you, no rigged give aways here! way!

Good stuff Ed. I just realized while watching that I could put one next to my shop's garage door opener outlet and really improve my electrical situation in there. I wish they offered a 75 or 100 foot option but 50 feet may be enough. Thanks!

I have one similar. I'd love to get a little more preload in the spring, as it doesn't want to retract fully. Has anyone come across a video of that? I'd like to avoid a clockspring catastrophe.

I have not noticed that problem. Although sometimes you have to guide the wire carefully to make sure it spools up properly.
