Nick daicos isnt in AA midfielder form, no clue how people are making the argument neale isnt consistent enough whilst daicos has had like 8 games with 40% efficiency. Neale has been in the top 3 best mids all year easily. Once again, QLD has 0 people in the AA selection. Only state to not have someone in there. Neale can be the best in the comp or top 3 but they'll compare him to his 2020 year and go "he's not at his best so its not AA worthy" whilst he's still a top 3 midfielder. AA selection is a joke lmao, tom stewert will probably get in despite only playing 3 good games. Jeremy Cameron will get in for playing 3 good games, Gawn is always a lock. They have players they make room for every year its a joke, Daicos will be one of the lock players despite form too. AA selectors shouldnt be involved in the media, they make selections to get headlines. Until they make a change its an absolutely pointless team. Stewert being in last year, Neale not being in, Harris Andrews not being in ect. Theres countless interstate players being robbed each year simply because all the selectors are vic based media people that probably dont watch interstate games

The big names will always be favoured based on name value alone. I'm convinced most of the 'experts' don't even watch most of the games. Like you said, Daicos has had a number of very good games, he's also had some absolute shockers, way too many to justify being AA imo, exact same as Jeremy Cameron, he's been a complete non factor in half the games this season but will make it based on his reputation and the fact people judge them based off their highs and not their lows. Xerri has been better than Gawn this year, and also hasn't missed any games due to injury, yet some 'experts' will scoff at the idea of Gawn not being in the team. Also Jack Sinclair might have been the best player in the comp in the second half of the season, yet Kingy is the first to mention him and Kane seemed surprised, if he played for Collingwood and had a famous dad they'd be all over him. Sucks to play for a small or interstate club.

All of these names have been better mids than daicos, yet daicos will be picked ahead of most of them just because of his name. Neale has been double tagged in basically every game, still dominates 90% of them with insanely good kicking. Daicos has the least damaging touches out of all of these players, who cares if he gets the ball heaps if 90% of the time he just does a short handball or gets a short handball. Against the crows is a perfect example, he had 35 touches or something going at 40%. He had more direct goal assists to the crows than any crows player and nearly cost the pies the game bases on his bad kicking alone. Yet the media hyped him after it despite being absolute trash in that match. Neale, Young and Serong have all been better more damaging mids than daicos across the full season

@@DC-pt4gm Basically. Not to mention QLD not having a selector, last year Moore got in the team over Andrews despite being worse in every single stat a key defender has. He played half of a season then dropped off, but because of that half they locked him in anyway. His drop off this year was actually a drop off halfway through last year, they just didnt bother watching. Neale should have been AA last year, instead they wanted headlines talking about how "bad" he was (He was the best clearance mid in the comp and more consistent than basically everyone) AA is a joke and all based around media attention. Gawn, Stewert and Cameron all need to have 3 good games a year to be a lock. Daicos will be in that boat now too. Meanwhile Brisbane always get robbed of it, they had the same selections as north melbourne last year... Whilst having the best key defender, top 3 midfielder and top 3 key forward.

Could be the year that a midfielder gets taken off the bench for a ruck. Either Xerri or Gawn go interchange and Daicos gets the slip. No idea why everyone has Daicos in there teams, good player but no in top 10 mids atm. Top ten (in no particular order): Errol, Heeney, Bont, Treloar, Cripps, Merret, Serong, Neale, Butters & LDU... Special mentions Chad, Young, Brayshaw, Dunkley and Daicos. Genuinely don't think there is a single Collingwood player that deserves AA.

Presumably those who collate the various stats that everyone hangs their hat on are making their own subjective assessments on each disposal, tackle, or whatever other component of the game is deemed relevant by Champion Data. By way of example, raw numbers of tackles are next to pointless. A run-down tackle is worth gold while a ruckman tackling another ruckman at a stoppage is worth diddly-squat - yet they are both counted as being of the same value.

I asked my friends if that was a good enough reason to change teams, and the amount of vitriol I copped meant I decided to do it just to piss them off. I switched to the doggies in late 2015 and haven't looked back. I still didn't really give a shit about footy until probably 2019 but I'm a paid up member and go to most games now. I couldn't see myself changing teams again from here

King on Grundy is completely off, and the suggestion that we play an extra midfielder instead is laughable. He's been down for a few weeks, but he's not in the side for his contributions around the ground. He has remained competitive in the ruck the whole time, if less dominant than the start of the season, and has probably been the biggest reason across the season for our improvement in contested footy and clearances.
