I think it makes much more sense to view the forbidden fruit as the law. Like St. Paul, Adam was once alive apart form the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and he died. The forbidden fruit was a good created thing, and the commandment was holy, just, and good. The serpent represented the law of sin in Adam's members. Adam was living according to his flesh when he was living according to the dictate of Eve. By the knowledge of sin, he became ashamed of his flesh.

Everyone knows that the Garden of Eden was in Independence MO. I'm pretty sure the Tree of Knowledge isn't in either Branson or Independence.
