Great match. Very good video quality and camera work. For a guy with only one camera you're doing a great job at capturing the right angles so we can see exactly what's going. 👍

I think the strategy of Isaac's coach to have him abandon his ground game at the 4 plus minute mark cost Isaac this match where he was at that time dominating Caleb, Still both wrestlers well skilled and both gave MAX effort in this gut-wrenching exciting match.

One of the best sports. It requests strength, mind, technique and honesty. The two boys shown in the video are excellent fighters. Wrestling is so different from any violent and competitive team match, where fraud, lies, violence and misconduct rule.

>honesty MWAHAHAHAHA That's why every time the topic of wrestling comes up, somebody mentions how a lot of fighters stick fingers up to each others' asses as a common dirty trick despite it being sort of forbidden/frowned upon by the rules

Now that was a match! Both lads super serious and the tussle from 02:17 until break was terrific - the cam missed none of it; great video work. Was the throat hold at 3:55 legal? The ref broke the players, was that why?
@MidwestWrestle2 жыл бұрын
Hi Streetwise8, the pressure across the throat was relatively light and therefore could be considered "Potentially Dangerous". This is a situation where the official would be watching closely to ensure that the pressure does not become illegal, and may even proactively verbally caution the wrestler to "keep it legal". Continuing to 4:12, watch closely in the upper left hand corner and you can see the official making a gesture by bringing his fists together. This indicates that he felt that the wrestlers had reached a point at which neither could improve their situation (i.e. neither could score points) and so he elected to stop the match as a "Stalemate" and restart it.

@MidwestWrestle2 жыл бұрын
Hi Quiet Mind, this match was tied 1 - 1 at the end of the standard time periods, resulting in a sudden victory overtime period in which the first point scored wins the match. Isaac won the match by gaining control over Caleb down on the mat in the overtime period. Here are a couple of websites to help with the rules. Why aren't they wearing any protective head gear?
@MidwestWrestle Жыл бұрын
Although headgear is mandatory at school-organized events during the regular wrestling season, at privately run off-season events such as this, tournament management has discretion as to whether or not to require headgear. At this tournament, management chose to make headgear optional.

@MidwestWrestle2 жыл бұрын
There were 20+ mats going concurrently at this tournament. I was covering another mat when this match started, and once that match finished, I came over to this one, which is why the video starts after the match already began. This was during the height of Covid, and so they weren't raising hands. Instead, you can see the official raise his own left (red) hand at the very last second of the video.

@@MidwestWrestle There certainly are a lot of rules etc to remember so I don't know how they do. Back in high school wrestling I thought I was winning some matches but was losing because they kept taking points off me. It was a bit discouraging. I got sucker punched after gym class once so gave my classmate a going over & a fat lip to boot. He always wanted me for wrestling but never could do much as I was bigger & stronger. Those were the days.. Take care. Dave

You make an insult to this channel, only it makes YOU look like the jerk because you don't even realize that you're wrong. In case you didn't notice, the colors refer to their ANKLES, where they have green and red bracelets. It's just coincidence that the boy wearing the red singlet also was red on the ankle. And in your response below, you don't even acknowledge your embarrassing mistake but rather go on some reminiscent down memory lane. How about "I'm sorry, I didn't know what I was talking about"? Apologies go a long way.
