Hi! I was wondering why one would work on paper and then adhere that to the board instead of working directly on a gessoed cradled board. Thanks for your input. 😊

Do you seal the panel before you glue it? You answered someone that you don’t gesso, but do you seal to guard against SID?
@jdmosaics4 жыл бұрын
A tack cloth specially made to completely wipe over to remove sanding dust instead of the vac. And by using a floating frame and then no need to worry about the sides except for sanding the edge at a 45 degree bevel. Cheers

Hi Pam, this is very helpful. Thank you for showing and sharing your process so clearly. I do have one question about it,. Do you also treat the backside of your panels (in order to prevent warping) or do you leave them blank? I’d really appreciate it if you would share your thoughts around that. Also, you have an earlier video about adhering oil paintings on paper to panels and I’m wondering if that same process and adhesive can be applied to acrylics? Would love to learn how you’d do that. Thank you!

Do you have a video explaining how you use pouring medium and leveling gel on an acrylic painting and why? Thank you for your videos!

Hey Pam. God bless u. Thankz 4 sharin.👍

What kind of wood are your panels…that they are pale blonde vs yellow tone, and have no visible grain? I like to leave sides natural with cold wax, but find the wax slightly darkens the wood and gives it a yellowish tone…plus it accentuates the grain, neither of which I want. Thank you

For an acrylic only painting on paper, do you need to add an isolation layer of something else before you add the final cold wax layer?
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
Since I use pouring medium, this may qualify as a separation layer This is a great question for golden, though they would likely try to sell you another product. I think a fairly substantial coating of Liquitex pouring medium or golden self leveling gel should work fine as an isolation layer 😊

Can I use the cold wax médium on acrylic painting the same way as you did with your oil painting ? :-)
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
I do use it as a final thin layer-yes 😊

do you buff it when it's dry? with a dry soft cotton cloth? like in your acrylic video workshop?
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
Buffing doesn’t seem to make much difference-you “can”, but I usually don’t 😉

Can you use the cold wax over acrylic?
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
Yes-as long as the acrylic is dry 😊
@debbiegarland71244 жыл бұрын
Lovely to see you Pam. Do you buff between wax coats or the final coat? I’ve found it gives a nice sheen. Was surprised that it’s oil and cold wax as it looks like acrylic, my wax paintings tend to be very textured. Love the colour palette. We’re hoping to be able to have live exhibitions in NZ next year as well, it’s been weird this year. We’ve had a few online shows here, not the same though as I miss the person to person contact and feed back. Cheers x

I was also wondering if you seal the cradle edges with something kike GAC 100 before you apply the cold wax, or does the cold wax go right on the raw wood? It almost looks like a gessoed edge there but I have a feeling it's raw wood. Thanks in advance!

So, do you gesso the cradled panel before gluing the paper on? If so, why?
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
No I do not 😉
@patriciaraible55034 жыл бұрын
This was interesting. I use a coating of Dorland's wax on my acrylic paintings top and sides to finish. I would love to see a similar video of you finishing a large mounted acrylic.

Hi Pam! I'm so happy to see you again on KZbin! I'm just wondering on a different subject which is signing your artwork. Do you sign all pieces of a tryptic or diptych? Or what? Thanks if you get a chance to answer.
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
I would sign all three in the back-but only one on the front. 🌹

That is a large piece of paper. What did you use or is it more than one piece put together? If it is more than a single piece of paper how do you hide the seams?
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
Each panel came from a large roll of Arches Oil paper!

Hi Pamela, thank you for your beautiful videos. Can I ask ? What do you use to stick your paper on a panel?. I've been having issues with wrinkling and pockets of air when gluing my paper on board with regular glue. Thank you. Heidi
@sheilawhittam75454 жыл бұрын
The video beginning recommends Lineco.
@PamelaCaughey4 жыл бұрын
I use Lineco Ph neutral glue. Only put glue in the panel and lay it down carefully 😊
