Many years had passed since Krishna and Balarama had left the beautiful town of Vrindavana where they had grown up as children. Their uncle Akrura had come to take them to Mathura where they killed the evil King Kamsa. After that they went on to create their own kingdom on the island of Dwarka. Krishna maried 16,108 wives. But in all that time they hadn’t returned home to the parents that raised them. Now Balarama vists the heartbroken residents of Vrindavan.
Today, we talk about Balaram, the direct expansion of Krishna, who is as powerful as Krishna yet different from him. He appeared with the Supreme Lord as Laxmana, Balaram and Nityananda. Balarama is the source of all the VIshnu forms that create the material world. He is the original guru and it is through his blessings that one can approach Krishna.
