person who wrote in at the beginning completely missed the point of that entire call. The problem was a sloppy and dirty roommate, not the fact that they were gay. IMO Any personal hygiene acts should be cleaned up afterward if you're sharing a living space with someone. Whether it be pubes, beard trimmings, tampons, douching, ETC, its common decency, it has nothing to do with sexuality or phobias. Writer wanted to give a lecture and have an excuse to be upset about something.

No, the caller said "you guys aren't going to believe this. My roommate DOUCHES in the SHOWER." Of course, leaving crap everywhere is problematic, but she had a problem with the douching all on its own, which I didn't understand. I was like, where else is he supposed to do it?

Right.. We can all, gay or straight or on the spectrum somewhere, agree that leaving biohazard in a communal shower is fucked up. It's like he really wants to make it seem like it's OK because it's tied to the sex of a marginalized group. It doesn't matter. We all shit, and we all know that's fucked to do, regardless of *why* it was done.

Bro.. this has nothing to do with being gay. You can have a straight couple roommate that leaves shit in the shower and it’s still disgusting. Just be courteous. Be a decent human being. If you do douche then clean the tub and make sure it’s clean. Clearly the roommate has an issue with it because there are leftovers of shit everywhere in the tub.

I would like to say: 1. Don't believe everything written in that e-mail. Not all gay men douche (and I disagree that you were as offensive as he claimed). 2. Yes, sometimes Natasha and Moshe sound pretty ignorant on the topic. 3. The complainer also seems to enjoy shaming people who have anal sex and do not douche. Shaming people for what they do sexually is not cool whether you like it or not.

As funny as I find Moshe and Natasha, some of their fan base is beyond obnoxious. The fact they earnestly address these (often times ridiculous) complaints while putting themselves down for being "cisgendered" makes the podcast difficult to get through sometimes. That letter writer knew that the problem was shit in the bathroom left by an inconsiderate roommate, but chose to feign outrage so they could shame the straights for not "understanding" gay culture and imply homophobia was at play.

Yo, the old Fulton Fish Market near South Street Seaport closed a loooong time ago. The rotting fish guts moved to da Bronx. Now the area only stinks after heavy rain when the sewers overflow into the East River. No way on shared bank accounts, married or cohabiting. Convenience is the only possible advantage other than that it’s a source of aggravation. One person always abuses the privilege. Cash is king!

Those people calling you on being homophobic, need to listen to the podcast again, the issue was about being a sloppy dirty roommate, nobody was making fun or gays or douching. No matter where in your gay life experience you are, you have to clean after you douche, just like you cleanup and flush after popping. Simple as that.

Sometimes I feel so disconnected from other gay people. I’m sorry but you can not be cool with some dude shitting on the shower walls and if someone saying that’s not okay offends you, you might be the problem. There was nothing homophobic in that conversation and maybe the person responding should lighten up. Going into attack mode just because heterosexual people are asking questions is not the way to open up a dialogue. If you are a gay person who isn’t immersed in every faction of homosexuality, sometimes it feels like what the hell are you going on about, a dude is spray shitting the walls like a black and decker paint sprayer, it’s okay to have a problem with that. No one is saying gay sex is gross or douching is gross 🙄

I think the letter writer's point was exemplified perfectly by what Natasha said in defense: she repeatedly said that "spraying shit all over a shared shower is unacceptable" when in reality it was LEAVING the shit all over the shower that was the issue. Saying it in that way makes it possible for someone to interpret it incorrectly and while it may come off as Gen Z over-wokeness I think that it's really just about using more precise language. I love you guys so much and I know you didn't mean that the act of performing an enema is gross but I think the writer was valid in their complaints. Thanks so much for everything!!

This was a particularly great episode. I'd love more follow-ups, for instance I'm curious how soon the wife of "Mr. Mom" is going to file for divorce? What a damn shame that she is treating him the same way stay-at-home moms have traditionally been treated by their children's fathers. She "doesn't want to be the alpha?" Does that mean your roles do not contribute equally because you get a paycheck? You obviously aren't interested in being a team, just keeping score. If your resentment/contempt is this audible in a phone call you will likely be co-parenting in 2 separate households in no time. Guess how _that_ will affect your bottom line? In fact, your soon-to-be ex may very well get primary custody if he's the current caregiver, so prepare to pay _him_ child support. That ought to give you an idea of what his contribution was worth (if not to you, then to the state of New York.) You might also want to get your child in therapy, so figure that in to your budget. It would benefit society and individual families exponentially if couples had to learn some things about family law prior to obtaining a marriage license. Whether you have a functioning partnership with your spouse or not, that is what the 2 of you are in the eyes of the law. The reason this facet of the court exists in the first place was to protect wives and mothers from an abusive ex, specifically one who would otherwise leave them without the resources it takes to live. This would happen long after making them financially dependant and benefitting from the services they provided, including raising the children and managing the household. Obsessing over that $300 missed appointment fee reeks of financial abuse--it may not indicate anything of the sort but you might want to educate yourself on the subject. While you're at it, here's a brief history lesson: our grandparents might be old enough to remember when a wife could not legally own property or sign financial instruments. She could be committed for the rest of her life to an asylum based solely on her husband's signature. It's hard to imagine how today a woman could denigrate the work of a stay-at-home dad because he is performing what has traditionally been a woman's role. Especially because you agreed to this arrangement!

I mean, I agree with the letter writer that we shouldn't shame anyone for taking care of themselves or for the way gay men have sex (but also, like gay men aren't the only people who have anal sex and do enemas as a part of their sex life?) But I just listened to that episode and I really didn't hear you guys doing that. I think it was clear that the gross-out was because of poop being left in the shower. I wonder how the letter writer would react to having a roommate who, say, constantly left their period smears in the shower or something. I would not think someone thinking that that's gross makes them misogynistic even though having a period is also a totally normal thing that no-one should be ashamed of in and of itself (and that people with vaginas are also very often shamed for and made to feel that they/their bodies are disgusting.) Also, that is total bullshit that you can't do an enema over the toilet. You can lie down to insert it/the solution if that's more comfortable for you, but when you have the actual bowel movement you can just do it over the toilet (I've literally been told to do it this way by doctors in order to prep for surgery- I think if that method works for a colonoscopy where they'll be putting several feet of a camera/cord up your ass then I think it will work for anal play.) Or get one of those Squatty Potty things so you can squat over the toilet.

Hey I have an idea for the letter writer.. if you are unable to comprehend the nature of the discussion from the last episode you maybe just are not quite intelligent enough to listen to this pod.. anyone that was offended by that episode just missed the point entirely... and also.. if you were a regular listener you would know that tash and moche are NOT insensitive homophobics. Like seriously maybe just get your hands on some green and chill TF out.. or move along to another pod that you can handle without blowing a gasket. This is so upsetting that they had to invest so much of this episode into a backpeddle to please someone who is just looking for trouble. It went without saying in the first place that they OBVIOUSLY were not trying to attack anyone or come from any sort of place of hate. Re-fucking-lax dude.
