Hello everyone...OK...we have had some questions about the NEW Precision Plate and if it will "wear" down your dies? If you recall, I said that you CANNOT use this with your thick, steel rule dies like many of the Tim Holtz dies. This is because in a steel rule die there is an actual blade and yes...the steel of the plate will wear it down. However, with a wafer die or chemically etched die, as they are known in the trade, you do not have a blade to wear down. It is by pressure of the rollers that is forcing the cut. Sizzix tested the dies by cutting them more than 10,000 times on this plate and the dies were still able to cut. At first I thought that the plate was made of Tungsten Carbide but it is actually Anodized Steel. So...as they say...Keep Calm and Cut On!!! Smiles...Stacey

how great now I will enjoy my (mini dies) that have been a bit of a problem to work with. I know they are called thin lits but you know we have to enjoy the dies and name them so we will remember the dies. LOL

Hi Stacey, thought you might want to know that the Ellison Sizzix site says the plate is Annealed Steel (since at the end of #116, you were searching for this info). Annealing and Anodizing are easily confused terms since we're not in the metals business, but Anodizing is for aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. Cheers!

I am going to use the tip about the Sookwang tape a lot I think. Thank You for it. A tip for you: - use (not used) Dryer sheets to get all those bits and pieces out of the dies. - If you going to cut a kind of rectangle shape through the machine, place it diagonal, it will not bend and does cut much better. Magnificent! The precision plate will be extremely helpful. I like the fact that it embosses as it cuts. Shimmer sheets are so beautiful. I am just happy about this tool! I love your nails, too.
