Tanya Deroy on KZbin has a great video on how to maintain the even cutting ability of the Big Shot. Wish I'd known that was possible before mine had stopped cutting altogether after 12+ years. I found a video at Ally's crafty creations on KZbin, however, that showed how to repair my Big Shot. Very simple although time consuming but for a few dollars worth of hardware from Amazon I now have a machine that works better than when it was new..! Hope this information will also help. Thank you for your tips..!

How long does the hot water fix last? I'm almost ready to buy a new machine.

COMMENT to ALL … I’m certainly NOT dissing Pixieland’s suggestions … We need ALL input to help us keep our crafting expenses to a minimum!! However, I need to add the TIP from y.t.’r SHARON LUSKA who, in her video “The die cutting solution that fixes everything. … “, describes how to use THICK VINYL SHEETING (JoAnn’s sells 2 thicknesses in their upholstery dept.) BETWEEN your RIDGID CUTTING PLATES to facilitate not only clean cuts, but will also KEEP your PLATES relatively “mar-free” AND WARP- F R E E !! I’ve been using this method for over two years and, in that time, have NOT changed my plates, nor have had a n y need to deal with warpage. CAVEAT!! You WILL have to CHANGE the VINYL SHEETS as they get sliced up by the dies, but in protecting your plates, their purpose is to be “sacrificial”.

I've flipped several times. They last 3 months and I die cut maybe a total of a day in any given month. Thanks anyway.
