Was giving an AMT 16in last wk. They to are the pinch type. Do you have a source are link where you are buying new blades, with different TPI? I did find our local ACE to have Stanley blades, but 4 pack of six bucks, and had to remove the cross pins, but did work to try it out. I will do a PT-02 on my soon. the saw was like new, and a general clean up was all it needed. My doesn't have variable speed, by with a foot peddle, does give me slower control..Thx for sharing. Bear.

Hi Bear. There are so many choices for blades and where to buy them it is mind-boggling. I generally buy my blades made by Olson and sold by Amazon. I have also purchased Flying Dutchman blades (also bought from Amazon). I use both pin end blades as well as pinless blades depending on the material thickness that I am cutting. Often times I will try a few different blade types and TPIs on a piece of scrap before selecting the blade to cut the actual project. Experience and testing is the best teacher here I think. Where do you get the blade clamps? I have an old Delta from the 80s and uses those 2 of those same clamps but the ones i have are worn out.

Very helpful. I’ve subscribed. You keep teaching. I’m teaching my Grandson whose 32 and interested. I’d rather he learns from someone with good habits already and it’s a refresher for me. Thanks a lot! Where are you from? I’m in Alberta, Canada. One of three provinces that are done with masks except for sawing lol and in hospital and doctors offices. Groups as large as you wish. Calgary had their Stampede with 529k coming in the 10 days! So far no outbreaks since closing on July19. Time will tell!

Hi Linda. I am located in Connecticut where you do not need to wear a mask if you are vaccinated. Thanks for the kind words. I do enjoy teaching and making these videos. If you haven't seen it already, watch the 7- point star video also made using a scroll saw. That one was challenging in places. Here's the link for your convenience: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpS5eqOIjs10bpI . Thanks for your comment and for watching.

It appeared that you inserted the blade into the clamp until it went to the end of the opening in the clamp, at first. Then when centered it you did not show that view and the blade can only go as far as the set screw. Correct? Regardless mine continues to tilt even when centered. Any other tips?

Hi James. Yes, you are correct. When I inserted the end of the blade into the clamp and centered with the 2 pins, the blade went in only as far as the set screw. Without seeing your setup, it's difficult to know what the problem is. I understand that you are centering the blade in the lower blade clamp but what about the upper blade clamp? Is the blade centered in the upper clamp as well? Feel free to reply here and I'll try to help you figure this out. Thanks for your question and for watching.

Yes I am centering both the top and bottom when inserting the blade. The bottom clamp is the one that then tilts and pulls free. This is an older Delta saw I recently acquired.

Does your saw have the original blade clamps?
@jamesbaumgart227
@jamesbaumgart227 2 жыл бұрын
@@ImaginethenMake Yes they appear to be the original clamps. They appear to be exactly the same as the ones in your video.

James, I'm not sure that the blade clamps I have in my saw (16" Central Machinery from Harbor Freight) will work in your older Delta saw. With that said, I would suggest trying to install the blade in the bottom clamp BUT not center it. Try installing it slightly off center one way or the other and see if the clamp still tilts and pulls free. Hope this helps.

Hi Matt, Nice video. Thanks. I was wondering if you know where I could pick up a blade clamp. My hex nut has been chewed up to the point that my hex key just rotates in the nut. I need to replace my blade but cant't find an outlet that sells the blade clamps.

Hi Richard. In the video description, there is a link that brings you Amazon and the Olson blade clamp. Take a look at that and see if that will meet your needs. Thanks for the question and for watching.

I have a picture of the length of the blade and the clamps on my saw. I have to cut the blades and put the blades in the center of those holder pins.

How long are the blades you are using? Are they standard 5" long scroll saw blades? Keep in mind that coping saw blades (which can look a lot like a scroll saw blade) are usually 6" long. If you like, you can send the picture to ImagineThenMAKE@gmail.com. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

I have these clamps and they are junk. I try to use them with a pinless spiral blade and even when I make sure that it's lined up in the center, it still bends the blade and will break it off ( it's a terrible design ). OR the clamp keeps slipping off the bottom holder. I don't know WHY they won't just make pinned spiral blades ,it's totally stupid to NOT have them . The company that would make them that way would make millions in cash .

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Interesting that you mention spiral blades; the reason I got these blade clamps in the first place was so that I could try out using spiral blades. Like you, I wish a manufacture would make pin end spiral blades but no one does (as far I know) probably because the pilot hole for a pin end blade needs to be so large. I'm not sure if you've seen any of my other scrolling videos but here's a link to one you might find interesting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3qTcpyZpthkrqs . In the video, I'm cutting 4 different kinds of material using both a pinless spiral blade and a pin end blade. In all of these spiral blade cuts, I never broke a blade or had the blade slip out of the blade clamp. I suggest that you try a few different kinds of pinless blades before giving up on the blade clamps; I am very happy with mine. There are also other companies that make blade clamps for pinless blades; perhaps try a different manufacture. As far as having the blade slip out of the clamp, I have heard others suggest taking some sandpaper to roughen up the ends of the blades (removing any slippery residue from the manufacturing process) to allow the clamp to hold better. I have never had to do this but still I thought I'd mention it. Thanks for your comment and please feel free to post here again with any other comments.
