Thanks for the mention Sreeni! Indeed the shifting method can affect the accuracy of the recovered shift, if you use different interpolation for example. But I suspect probably the small error in the registration values occurs because the contents of the two images is slightly different. This does not fully satisfy the DFT assumption of cyclic functions/images. If you wanted to recover that last little bit of accuracy you may try to crop the registered images and repeat the procedure. Although for most applications even 1/10 of a pixel is more than enough.

Amazing videos. I'm starting to learn image registration and CV in general and your videos helped a lot!

what are the disadvantages of using subpixel image registration over other image registration methods(homography etc). Assuming that the image offset is in 2D, should we always stick to sub-pixel image registration?

HI sreeni amazing information.can you suggest any methods or tips for finding the sub-pixel(100th of the pixel) distance calculation in binary image or between the two connected components in an image?

Never had the need to look into subpixel measurement. I am not sure if there are libraries that can be used right away or if you need to do the algorithmic coding yourself. I'll dig into this topic.

Hi Sreeni, These tutorials are really amazing. Just a request if you can post Hough Transform (mainly line) tutorial too. Thanks.

Hi Sreeni, thanks for this video. I am following your channel and find most of the videos I watched very informative. However, this one looks a little bit messy to me.. Actually, at some point I was looking for a python library suitable for registration of images in stack. I see that many people use ITK and Elastix for registration, but python wrappers of those look not really beginner-friendly. So for my purposes I used pystackreg, which was ported to python from ImageJ pypi.org/project/pystackreg/ So could you comment, how does this skimage registration you used works for rotation? Is there ready-to-use version for stacks? Would it be faster if comparing to other methods like pystackreg? Thanks again for tutorials!

I'm sorry you didn't find my video helpful. May be you'll find my next video informative where I show a few ways to perform image registration. I am aware of pystackreg but didn't do any videos on it. In fact, there are many good libraries out there and it eventually comes down to your specific application and which one fits your needs. By the way, pystackreg seems to have good documentation so I hope people can use it without much help.

@@DigitalSreeni Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this video is helpful for many users, and I'm looking forward to see the next one. By the way, I can see that in parallel similar tutorials are uploaded to Apeer_micro. Which channel would you advise to proceed with learning? What is the difference in content between those two? Thanks!

Kindly use clear colored image some different images

Why would clear colored images make any difference? I hope the process of registration using python is clearly explained so you can implement it on your own images. Stay tuned for the next video for more ways to register images.

I do not have any knowledge of that field. I understand images and to some extent I understand cell biology, otherwise my comfort zone lies with materials sciences and geology.
