Very pretty and certainly opal-like. See if you can find an orange/red and bright green fleck Julie. That would definitely look like opal. Can’t wait for when you start selling all your treasures. 🌺🌴

Very pretty. I like the added shimmer of the interference powder. However, I like both of the flakes. The larger flakes give them a mosaic look. As always, beautiful pieces, Julie.

Very lovely! I'd be quite curious to see some cabs done with a mix of the shaved ice and the larger "blue" flakes. It would be fun to experiment with adding a bit more white to the resin and also mix in some the interference powders. 🙂

I have made pendants like these for years. I actually really like to stir the flakes in with the resin. You have to be much more careful about bubbles but it gives you a depth you cannot get when just brushing it on top. Either that or if you want to avoid bubbles you could continue your method and just pour a couple layers to get the layering. The mylar flakes are far more colorful if you allow them to layer and you'll see the new color blends. I have done some with black backgrounds exactly the same way. I stir them in with deep blue tinted resin. Not opaque dark blue. Just see through enough that I also get color variations from the layering Plus the dark blue. It's an interesting technique.

Lovely, I am so tempted by now to venture into the resin playground, too. As for making smaller pieces, rather than trying to chop them up, try a very clean/ new coffee bean/ spice grinder and add a tablespoon or so and whirl them at high speed for a few seconds or less--check often to avoid powdering them.

They turned out beautiful. I made them using the Shaved ice but, I just did clear. I put too much in and wasn’t happy with the results. So far in a few different projects.. I’ve added too much glitter and also too much crushed crystal. 😂 Oh well.. ya can’t learn if ya don’t try. The color shift that you used in your crushed satin molds might be really pretty with the black backed opals. I can’t wait to see them! Thanks for sharing!

Can you mix the chameleon powder with clear resin? Would it still act like its supposed to? What if you put like a tiny bit of clear in the base (to keep some of the little glitters off the base) then poured a tiny bit of the resin with the sparkles, a tiny bit of resin with the chameleon powder and topped it with white? Would that be too many layers? Would you even still need the white, I wonder? 🤔 They are lovely. I was thinking that blue sparkle will look especially lovely when you go to pour with the black

awesome....double pour half size cabachons/earrings pink first then a light layer of blue and try the black background for sure..check the fire and ice opal 120 grand..maybe a royal navy background and maybe pieces of coloured resin in them to 3d them more.....oh ammonites like copper paper and dragon scales would be nice also for another experiment
