On Jonathan Gómez: he wasn’t involved with this group in any of the buildup camps (I believe there were one or two that he wasn’t released for) and he declined an alternate spot on this roster. The switch to Mexico hasn’t happened yet, but it will likely happen soon. Similar to Obed Vargas, I think it’s very possible that he was going to use the USA for the Olympics opportunity that Mexico can’t provide, but then switch to El Tri for the senior level where he has a much clearer path.
@christianbravo90317 ай бұрын
That’s fine, he can make the move - he’s not even good enough to make this roster, and he hasn’t been able to see any senior level matches. Mexico is getting to where their only talent is being developed in the States.

He is penciled in as a back up for Barella or Frattesi (brother of Weston Mckinney’s girlfriend Chiara) not as a backup for Hakan Çalhanoğlu. They’re thinking a year ahead and don’t want to miss a beat as Mkhitarian’s contract expires at the end of next season and are built to have 2 quality players at every position. There was some talk about a loan year in the EPL but as you noted following his former manager is the best possible fit.

Good point, also Dietz has been playing primarily at DM this season with Furth not as much CB even though he is listed there. Regarding asking players to do things they aren't comfortable with. The reality though is good teams don't have keepers that are atrocious with their feet. We can say don't set them up for failure. But the reality is have a minimum standard to even qualify for a squad and it's at least be servicable with your feet as a keeper. not perfect but decent with your feet. So to me Matt Turner and keepers that get capped that are pure crap with their feet; not even servicable, is the product of our low standards.
