Hard to believe that this is the roster they put out after missing the last couple of Summer Olympics. Only having one over-age player, and the absence of Luna, says it all. I hope this is due to club refusals to release versus ineptitude.

Hey Pete, I think one of the biggest issues with the call-in shows is that in many cases, there is a significant delay -- sometimes as much as 5-10 seconds. I think that may be why it seems like almost no one is ever ready to talk when you bring them on. I don't know if that's the whole problem, but it's something to consider if the same issues persist.

In his last 2 seasons w San Jose & his season w Chivas, Cade has played 72 LEAGUE games & scored 5 goals. Or better yet in his last season w SJ & his current season w Chivas he's scored 2 LEAGUE goals in 42 games. Looking like he'll follow the paths of Hoppe, Giaocchini, KDLF, Soto, Llanez etc as good youth (young) players who flamed out early & never did much on the professional level for various reasons

Konrad's fall was/is similar to Adu....a lack of interest in putting effort into training & integrating into a team. Llanez's fall has been due to injuries similar to Joe Gyau and others before him.

I think Zimmerman is here only because Dietz is injured. This camp is to determine the best Olympic age players and also to determine the holes that need to be filled with overage players. Not having trusty here doesn't mean that he won't be on the Olympic roster, if they decide they need two overage center backs.

I think Downs will have next season his Breakout with maybe 10+ Goals in 2.Bundesliga what will bring him close to the first team. With the Transfer Ban for Koln he will play very much probably... I saw some Gomez games for Braunschweig too, he was often a very noticeable player for a very up and down Braunschweig team, he doing the right thing until the end and then take the wrong decision. He have the talent but its frustrating sometimes bc it feels like he is close to breakout but misses something

Pete I think everyone is frustrated with the Olympic format (18 player squads and it not being a FIFA tournament). unfortunately I don't see it changing anytime soon. Overall not a bad squad for this camp with the exception of the lack of some Over-Age options (Trusty, Meloney, and a striker). I hope you're right about Luna's absence being limited to this camp and not an indicator for the actual Olympics. I sometimes question if Gregg isn't influencing some of the squad selections made at the youth levels. We all know Gregg has some strange takes (love) for players. And guys like Cowell, Tomkinson, & Bassett fall into the mold of players GGG has had an unhealthy obsession with in the past (Long, Moore, Roldan).

What? Pete, your Trusty comments make absolutely no sense, Sheffield United have like 16 first team players under contract next year right now. They cannot afford to release one of their best defenders for the Olympics, a tournament that takes place the same time as their preseason and opening fixtures after the club produced the worst defensive record in prem history. To suggest that a 25 year old would boost his market value by playing in a u23 tournament scouts couldn’t give a shit about more than he would fighting for promotion in the EFL Championship is nothing more than national team bias and a complete disregard for any level of understanding for what’s going on at Sheffield United.
