My goal was to have 50, but I ended up with 51. Looks like I have to shoot for 75 next.... or 100. This hunt also had another milestone -- it put me at over 100,000 dollar bills searched since I started hunting currency (not counting opportunistic bills at work or out in the wild).

From the beginning, in order to buy 12k in bills, you must be doing fairly well financially, however, i started very low being poor, but now i can afford new levels, so i buy about 500.00 per my budget, yrs later idk, 2 old cigar boxes full now, of bills and coins ect. Its a kool hobby,

Well, to be honest, I'm not wealthy. I have a side business (unrelated to coins) that gives me a little extra income, and I have no children, which helps with expenses. I just add a little to my budget every so often and prioritize this over buying stuff I don't need. After a couple of years, if you make this a priority, you can keep adding it all up and do a bulk hunt like this. I have a LOT of banks, which gives me an unusual amount of resources. Remember, once you hunt it, you have to have places to take it and get your money back. It's awesome that you've been able to find so much stuff! It's fun to do, but it can also pay off bigtime! Thank you for the view and comment, and I hope you find something epic during your next hunt!

Just like with coin roll hunting, it’s all about volume and knowing what to look for. Most people don’t realize all the time and expense involved making video content. You keep doing what you’re doing and the followers will come. PS leave some for the rest of us! 😅

Yes, especially when your eyes aren't trained to see them. I can honestly say there are probably a lot of them out there that I missed due to not looking for them when I should have been. I have trained my eyes to pay more attention to them since then.

Not one but THREE radars, two 4-digit low SN, two high SN, and that star note with 500K total printed. I would've been happy with just those.
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! This was a great hunt. It had a higher saturation of star notes than I usually find, too. You should check out my most recent currency search, which is a little bigger than this one. It's the "$13,500 Currency Search" video that I uploaded recently. I believe this most-recent one was actually an overall better hunt than the previous, especially when it comes to fancy serial numbers. I found a little bit of everything during this hunt, which took me four nights to finish. If you watch the video, I hope you enjoy it! Thanks again for the feedback.

Which is better to get..... circulated bills or Fed wrapped bills?
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts4 ай бұрын
If I have a choice, I'd rather get circulated bills. Fed-strapped bills tend to be in sequential serial number order, so unless you get a good strap, you'll find absolutely nothing. Of course, when you do get a good strap, you may have many finds inside and they'll likely be in crisp condition. I prefer the "surprise" aspect of hunt through bills, as you never know what's coming up next. Thank you for the question 😃

I've been searching currency and coins for over three years and I've found... 260 duplicate 2013 B series star notes Over 2000 total star notes 1's,2's, 5's, 10's, 20's, 50's, and 100's many with print runs under 640,000. 149 W Quarters 212 S mint Quarters 118 silver Quarters 138 silver dimes 98 War Nickels and much more. I find the hobby enjoyable because I love treasure hunting. This isn't my only hobby either. You make the time for the things you enjoy doing. Keep doing what your doing. I liked the video. You need to solve the lighting problem it's holding you back. Otherwise excellent video.
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Жыл бұрын
I've only been doing this for about 2.5 years at this point. I started learning how to hunt pennies first back in late 2020, but didn't really get heavy into it until the following spring. I didn't really start hunting quarters until late 2021, and that was only three boxes. Now, I go through more quarters than anything, sometimes over $10,000 worth in a month. I don't have as good of luck finding silver like you do, but I do have over 200 W quarters. Currency searching is also new to me, as I've only been bill hunting just over a year. I think I have around 1,000 star notes at this point. My best star note is a $5 note with a print run of 64,000. I've been keeping a spreadsheet of what I've been finding since the beginning, and judging by the exactness of your numbers, you may have been doing the same thing. My best coin find is on the channel's logo, a 1992 D Close AM. This video was the first recorded edited video I've ever done, so yes, there were some quality issues. Before this I only did live streams. I've made some adjustments since then, and I plan on getting another light or two. I have a clamp light that I've been using for coin hunting for the last couple of years, and it actually causes more issues in the videos than it solves sometimes. My camera also has focus issues sometimes. I plan on doing another monster bill search in a couple of weeks, and now that I've had more practice and experience, it should be a better video. It's great you have so many finds. That's a large amount of silver for just hunting for three years. Finding silver quarters nowadays isn't easy. Thank you for the comment and feedback.

@@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts I have found 19 in circulation, love them. I also keep X suffix (which are decently abundant), and Y suffixes, which I find to be really rare.
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Жыл бұрын
@@-Milo I hope you find at least 19 more before the end of the year. They're getting tougher to find each day that goes by, but they're still out there. I honestly do like the X an Y suffixes, too, but I've never kept them. The X's really pop out to me during a search. After I type this reply, I'll begin my next currency search, which is going to be bigger than this one. The video should be out by the weekend, as this is going to take me at least three nights to get through. If I don't post a video out for a couple of days, it means I'm hunting an abundance of bills. As always, thank you for your support!

Curious, are you looking for full broken ladders, or are they not really worth the time
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Жыл бұрын
Personally, I don't look for the broken ladders, even though I did when I started doing this last year. The problem was three aspects: they don't generally sell for much, and they are very common. I was finding several of them during my hunts, which removed the "specialness" out of them for me. The third issue is their eye appeal - they don't have any. You have to take the time to count through the serial number to make sure all the numbers are there, and if a collectible item requires that sort of work, it's not as "cool" as those serial numbers that are obvious, such as binary notes or low serial numbers. On the other hand, I do keep "stuttered ladder" notes. For example, I found a note (in great shape) with the serial number 12234567. It's as close to a perfect ladder as you can get without being perfect. It's one of my favorite finds. I also found a $5 note recently with the serial number 12344556. That was another keeper. The broken or "scattered" ladders do sell for $3 - $10 on Ebay fairly regularly, they just aren't my cup of tea. There are people out there who like them and buy them, I just don't find them appealing personally.

You need to learn how to do a video . Can't see the notes, glare and lights are bad. We can't see the bills.
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Жыл бұрын
I am often impressed by one's ability to state the obvious. I appreciate the criticism, and of course, I know I need to work on video quality. At this point, the channel is new, my knowledge of video editing is minimum, and my free time is almost non-existent. This is actually my first edited video EVER. I will be continuing to try and improve both audio and video quality as I go. I will likely be investing in more lighting soon, or maybe experiment with a different background that might help with camera focus. I also don't have much time to spend doing research. I'm currently sitting on 8 boxes of half dollars, $4,000 in quarters, a bag of nickels and over a quarter million pennies that I haven't touched. I've also got over 12,000 wheat cents I want to search, but I haven't had the time. I have a full-time job, and I spend most of my lunch breaks at banks. At home, I no longer have free time. Hunting just one box of half dollars, taking video clips, editing and uploading can take 3-4 hours, and that all has to be done AFTER dinner! The video I made last night had six clips, and I ended up deleting 24 others for mistakes I made during the dialogue or because of camera focus issues. I'll be working on the video quality, but getting through the coin supply and getting ready for my next load is the priority when you have the volume I do. Thank you for the input, and I will try and do better moving forward.

We don't care about the almosters or could have beens
@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Жыл бұрын
Personally, I don't care about them, either. This channel isn't just about the search, it's about teaching other people how to do the same thing. I show the "almosters" for training purposes and to show people what I look for, even though the bill found wasn't the real deal. We may not care for them, but someone out there could appreciate the experience. It's all about training the eyes. Strangely, some of those "almosters" will actually fetch a decent premium on Ebay, even though I don't keep them. The bill market is booming right now, and even the lesser finds have a market.
