Greenland is an autonomous part of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Royals are our Royals as well. We love them passionately and they love us. The Crown Prince spent 6 months in one of our most northern towns in 2000 preparing for a very long trek on dogsled. He is known for being kind, humble, generous, low key and down to earth. Mary has the same rep. Now they have four beautiful, well behaved kids. Unlike Royals of earlier times they only hand the kids over to nannys when it is absolutely necessary. They are both involved in charities and Mary has proven to be a strong voice against bullying. Mary's Danish today is flawless. 71% of the population strongly support the monarchy. Frederik and Mary will be a very popular king and queen when their turn comes.

Anybody going to live and work in Denmark gets the same level of support to learn Danish. They get paid for 3days by their company and 2 days by the Government while they learn the language. My former neighbour's son is living there and doing graphic design and planning.Mary had the advantage of having a Danish speaking husband!

There is more protocol with the British Royals, but you can see the Queen, Philip, Charles, Camilla, William and Kate all are comfortable relating to others and treat others with consideration. I find monarchies one of the most outdated thing in democracies. The fact that someone is born into this abundance of privilege and power is absurd. On the other hand, I have to admit that the danish royal family is extremely good in understanding this privilege. Although a few scandals have emerged in the past years, the family is a true example of how a royal family should behave in our modern times. Congratulations to them.

The thing about a monarchy is that it safeguards democracy. It means that there is someone at the head of the government who isn't a partial politician, but someone who looks to the long term well-being of the country rather than the time until the next election. They are the only person who can step in if an elected government becomes undemocratic. The military swears allegiance to the monarchy not the government, and they take that seriously. Look at Spain. They restored their monarchy, and when the military tried to stage a coup the King went on national television and reminded them of their duty. The coup ended. Monarchy is old fashioned, but why not? They are our national history in one person, a non political focus for national events. To know where we are going we have to know where we have been.

People change countries and go after what interests them. Nationalism is an old concept that only exists in sick democracies, such as the american. To top it off, monarchies do not safeguard a country. A King's view of what he thinks is good for a nation can be VERY different from the reality. Just look at the mess Christian X created in Denmark in the 20th century when he dissolved the government because he thought it was becoming too progressive and going "against the nation's interests". Monarchy is just another name for a fancy dictatorship.

I came across this couple when I was looking at royal weddings and omg am I so pleased. They are so in love and happy. The children are also happy and are allowed to be themselves. She truly must be quite intelligent to have been able to learn Danish, which I understand is one of the most difficult languages to master. Mary and Frederik are my "favorite royals"

Crown Princess Mary is among the top 2% of Australian Graduates with not one,but two First Class Honours Degrees in Law and Commerce and Business Studies,followed by Post Graduate Diplomas in Advertising and Accountancy, Crown Prince Frederik is equally intelligent ,with Masters Degrees in Political Science and Environmental Science . He then obtained qualifications in the Military Services. No wonder they never stopped talking ,once they met. It must have been a relief to marry someone equally intelligent. Their children will probably be equally bright.

CP MARy is very intelligent . She got a Double First Class Honours Degree in Law and Business Studies for her first degree ,and has other post-graduate qualifications. CP Frederik likewise got a Distinction in his Masters' Degree examinations. No wonder they never stopped talking ! It is not very easy for people in the top 1% in the intelligence range to find a partner who is their intellectual equal. I too believe that God led them together because Frederik needed to meet The One(his words.)They both nearly did not go to the Slip Inn that night. She speaks English ,French and Danish fluently and he speaks German as well as Danish, English and French.His mother is also highly intelligent , and her father worked for Nasa's Moon landings programme. They are well suited !

She has a law degree, real estate broker, a business degree, with honors, several languages, many talents and skills in business. Her mother in law, Margarithe, is also very intelligent and talented. An artist, fashion and stage designer, etc.
