Thanks for putting a latin alphabet Title on the video. I cannot read arabic, persian, hebrew or aramaic, unfortunately. But I'm glad we have the same religious faith in Abrahamic religions. Mine told me to respect my neighbor. No matter who he is.

It is not the same faith. Only Christians believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he was born of a virgin and came in the flesh to die on the cross and pay for the sins of all and that if anyone believes in Him and repents of their sins they can e saved. Jews and Muslims do not have this believe and thus they do not share the same faith. Muslims and Jews also believe in very different things. Very different faiths, even if they share Abraham.

In Maqam Nahawand the maqam is Not played the same way ascending and descending, is it something common? Thank's for the video!
@Kb4hax5 жыл бұрын
It’s considered essential to play the variation when descending in certain scales
@RusNad2 жыл бұрын
Idk if you're still interested, but the idea is that any Arabic scale is divided into at least two parts, and you can change around the second part in a very free way. So if you take maqam nahawand, the second part can be kurd (making what in the West would be called a natural minor scale) or hijaz (making a harmonic minor scale) but also something like rast or bayati. It's very common in Arabic music to go through a few different options and then go back down.

Just wanna ask, is it true that Sikah is basically like Rast, but starts with E quarter-tone instead of C?
@RusNad2 жыл бұрын
Yes, sikah is like a mode of rast. But the most important thing about it is the first three notes that form the jins sikah. You can swap the second jins to be hijaz (huzzam/rahat el arwah) or bayati (iraq)

@nadim43438 жыл бұрын
ZHiKA I am a guitarist myself. You'll have to have a special guitar with extra frets like some Turkish guitarists I saw, or a fretless guitar. I chose to buy an oud and I couldn't have made a better decision. It's another world, not better, just another one and that alone is enough for me as a fun challenge. Cheers!
@ciscogayte81787 жыл бұрын
Quarter tones are not supposed to be played on any oriental instrument. It is just a mistaken term, in the acoustic theory, not in reality ! What is really supposed to be done is change the [1 tone + 1/2 tone] addition (such as [D_E_F] ) to [3/4 tone + 3/4 tone], which gives the same result : [1+1/2] = [3/4 + 3/4] = [1,5]. All you have to do is move down the middle [E] a 1/4 tone closer to [D] and consequently a 1/4 tone farther from [F]. A 1/4 tone is simply a substraction from 1 tone or an addition to 1/2 tone. But you NEVER play a 1/4 tone as such. Of course the frets on a guitar (or any fretted instrument) are meant to divide the musical scale in 1/2 tones. No way to get out of that pre-defined rule. The only way to attempt this is to play either an unfretted instrument (such as a fiddle, an alto, a cello, a double-bass, an ud) or a specific oriental instrument with an orientally fretted neck ! Be my guest !
@nadim43437 жыл бұрын
Cisco Gayte fretless guitars exist and it's one of my future plans. Pat Metheney plays one and sounds great.
@ciscogayte81787 жыл бұрын
Fretless banjos do exist too. So what ? Should your answer to ZHiKA'squestion ("is there anyway to play quarter tone on guitar?") be to take the frets off his/her guitar neck ?
@shaggisthrum7 жыл бұрын
I've been working on bending techniques but I think I'm going to Reverb to look for an oud ... I just love the tone. Been thinking about a fretless guitar for a while too. So much music and so little time!

Is Sikah supposed to be a happy sound or a sad sound. To the untrained ear, it comes off as nearly atonal! On a piano, all we can do to try and compare is play Phrygian Dominant with a raised 4th or Lydian Dominant with a flat 6.

I hereby take this opportunity to ask for clarification on the drawings of the violin diagrams for it looks like the drawn violin diagram had 5 strings instead of 4 to an extent I leant and understood the reading of the music sheet notes but not the fingering o the violin please make me understand better
@educostanzo3 жыл бұрын
The stringed instrument pictured on the diagrams is an oud, an Arabic instrument which has 5 pairs of strings, and not a violin. I suggest you to research about oud tunings, because I believe they are tuned differently from a violin as well, so you can get the notes correctly. Hope it can help you! ;)

What’s all this noise about in this video. It’s not fair for the one claiming the video to use the diagrams of the Oud neck without crediting the author. I have the book from which the pictures are taken. Karma is true and it’s fast these days 🌚so what you do to others will be done to you. At the end it’s a musical education video so as long as it delivers the message and used in the purpose it’s made for, both of you should be happy. Education is a right not a privilege

La présentation manque de pédagogie. On entend des ornementations (grace notes) sup. et inf., des notes ornementales en grand nombre qui faussent complètement l'audition et donc la compréhension de la composition du maqam. Ces manières d'exposer un maqam rendent difficile son enseignement. Alors qu'il y a des manières plus simples de faire. On reste sur notre faim.
